Default ek9 sunroof installation

Hello all I've recently found a 99-00 civic si sun roof assembly with all wiring and switch and drainage hoses. I'm curious and really just trying to get a guage on how hard you think this would be to install. Reasons for this is because i've always wanted this and the ek4 roof cap is hard to find, plus i'm going to soon be repainting it SSBP. So that being said and this assembly setting me back a whopping $100 what do you guys think of the cost/difficulty of this. I have body work knowledge and mechanical/wiring back ground.

Thanks for your opinions!

The hatch has the longest roof panel. The coupe is shorter (by about four or six inches) and the sedan roof is even shorter than the coupe.

The same can be said about the headliner.

Btw, do you really have an EK9 (Civic Type R) or is it an EJ6 (USDM Civic hatchback)?

I've talked and seen a guy that did it himself a few years back to his 98 hatch. He said he had to start the cut small and work up the size of the actual moonroof, which he said took forever. He said a lot of pain with the constant trimming. The gist of what I got from it was that it was a pain in the *** to put in hahahaha. Take it for what you want, but I think it's kewl to have a moonroof in a hatch.

I agree it is cool to have one in a hatch but i've got a prelude and a DA i can drive while i work on this so timing on how long it takes me to get perfect isn't really an object.

gl on the install. i currently have the headliner on my 92 si off and by lookin at it, if you want it to look oem, id imagine you might have to relocate or get some supports from cdm ek. not sure on what the frame structure on ek hatch is compared to one with or without sunroof. if not i dont see why not going to find the roof skin for an ex or si and cutting out the sunroof opening so you can have the exact fitment and might as well get the framing while your at it. id imagine no one wants the sunroof fallin on them while driving.... jus my 2 cents.

yes, i know my grammar is not perfect right now but i dont care!! lol gl

Like I said, Im not sure how the ek might look but this is what i got from my eg. I woudlnt doubt they are similar.

I only have ms paint to do this cuz im at work.
This is a pic of were the sunroof goes mounted. the red is marked for the bracket that is used to bolt up the sunroof. not sure if it is in 4 pieces or 1 big piece. but that is what i have on my hatch.

this second one is just to show you that it runs the whole length of the glass part of the sunroof.

Looks like i might be a bit of work but worth it if you want it. and remember do it right. Wouldnt want see a "My sunroof fell on my head while i was driving!!" thread. lol

Hope this helps somehow. like i said, i know its not a ek it from my eg. but its a honda...

I've removed moonroofs from 6G coupes before.

There is one BIG black pan that the guts and everything sit in. It's held on by several bolts all the way around. It's fairly heavy. I would not recommend not bolting it in all the way.

I don't know if cars without moonroofs have the threaded holes, but I doubt they do.
