EK SRS removal
I have installed a MOMO wheel & hub in my '97 CXHB. This meant removing the complete SRS unit ie/ wheel & cable reel. I have fabricated a pick up for the horn and isolated the horn wire (blue in this case). it is connected through the cable reel which I have not yet disconnected from the harness connector under the steering column. The battery has been disconnected the entire time and i do not plan to reconnect it until I have completed the entire install.
Here are my questions and concerns.
1. what needs to be done in order to keep the SRS light OFF after the deletion of the steering wheel unit?
2. will the passenger SRS unit still function?
3. is there any chance of having the passenger side bag deploy when power is restored now that the steering wheel bag has been deleted?
Any input that anyone has will be greatly appreciated

Re: EK SRS removal (krusty)
I believe that once the srs light is on the entire system will not work. Since your drivers airbag is not plugged in the pass. side will not work. I dont think there is any way around this feature.

The only way I know of getting the light off is to take the bulb off. What kind of horn are you using? I have a jdm sir wheel and the horn is th old style that didnt have a horn so it had to be hooked up differently.

MOMO Competition wheel w/ F1 center hub. Wheel adapter hub has a pickup ring on the bottom. all that is needed is a flexible transfer wiper that is easily made from round spring wire bent to make contact and also miss the hub. I anchored mine between the top two screw holes left vacent when I removed the cable reel.
secure the ends of the wire between 2 small brass washers and stacon the horn ground to either side. Secure the ends to the plastic base with 1/2" #8 sheet metal screws. E-mail me if you would like a drawing

To turn off the light, unplug the srs plug from the cluster, I think it is yellow.
No, the passenger side air bag will not work with out the driver's side. Basicly, when you remove one piece of the system, the rest does not work. Good luck getting the horn to work. If you figure something out, post a how to.
good luck

Re: EK SRS removal (walker111)
Not to jack the thread, but isn't airbag removal HIGHLY illegal in all 50 states (federal statute) unless the car has been in an accident where the system goes off and been rebuilt?
BTW, the system will not work with the driver side unit removed.
GL with whatever you decide
