EK Power Window Conversion Help
Have a EK HAtchback. Someone put aftermarket power windows and lock in and they all broke. I have 2000 SI panels and was planning on getting a 97 EX wiring harness for the power window & lock conversion. Someone said I need something for under the dash or something.I'm new with Hondas and know I cant do the wiring, but they want like $200-$300 for the install from a shop. Can someone help me. Is there something else I need for this. Thanks. I have seached this site and cant find anything.

Re: FV-QR (NOFX)
I have the wiring harness from a 97 EX. Someone said that I need some part for under the dash. Every person says something different.

I helped do one of these on a '97 CX using '98 EX parts and I don't remember anything being added under the dash save for plugging in the floor harness to the back of the fuse block.
It's easiest to remove the lower dash panels and fuse box so you can plug it in.

Re: FV-QR (NOFX)
Are there two different wiring harnesses that I can get? Or just one. I have heard a couple people talk about a floor harness. Is that easier or.. I'm so new to Hondas its unreal. I feel lost, on such a little car. Thanks.

uuumm sike! that spells disaster!
just get the floor harness, fusebox, door harness, door panels, window regulators and such from the corresponding year civic and install them they will fit and work like stock without the fear of wiring issues in the near future!

When you did this did you tap in to the fuse box or just put fuses in line somewhere along the way?

I prefer plug and play OE wiring. It's easier and more straight forward for the life of the car.
Plus it's nice and neat too.

Re: (NOFX)
See I have no clue as to what they did. Has some kit in it that put the widows switches by the e-brake. A real crapy job. They put power windows in but the door still have manual crank thing to put the lever in to roll the window up. Very ugly. One person says to get the 96-98 harness cause of the door lock module being somewhere I dont know. They say I have to buy odoor module for the door on 99-00 conversion. I should have stayed American.

Re: (Maddheadache)
So I dont need the floor harness, do I need a door lock module box or what for the 99 SI harness. Can I just get a straight answer to the questions. Not one here, then a different answer there. What do I need if I use a 99 Si harness? Do I need a door lock box for the 96-98 harness? This shouldnt be that hard. IMPORTS ARE A HASSLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

Re: FV-QR (kenny24)
u are going to have to take ur interior out including carpet the harness runs from the fuse box splits over the e brake and to the other door. where it splits it keeps running to the back seats and across. 97 ex make sure EX or SI body harness i went through all of this with the wrong harness so i dont have power door locks learn from my mistake.

Re: FV-QR (marleyhonda)
you will also need the door module that goes into the fuse box from what i read this guy u bought it from might of spliced the window motors so u will need to make sure of condition the actual door motors are in . the body harness will cost 80-100 bucks not the bad part instaling is hope u like power

For those recommending NOT to use the floor harness, tell me why.
Do you really know how easy using the floor harness is?

I did mine with the floor harness -- so ridiculously easy. No muss, no fuss.
Everything plugged in, everything works, there's no splices, no soldering, no excessive ***** of electrical tape.

Please use the floor harness, makes everything easy. And on top of that the next owner can actually follow the factory wiring diagrams to do some troubleshooting should something ever happen to the power features.

Re: (94EG8)
This guy that is selling this conversion to me says there is no plug and play. That I will have to splice wires. I dont know what to think. This is what the guy says "If you use a floor harness then i think you should get the 96-98 because you will need to get the 96-98 ex floor harness and modify it for your hatch if you are going to wire it in like they did you can get either because you will just custom wire it in." What is he talking about?

NOTHING got modified. NOTHING was cut. It was ALL plug and play.

Re: (NOFX)
So I should get the 96-98 EX floor harness and have no problem putting it in? And it is plug and play. Why does he insist that I will need to modify it for my Hatch. Thanks for all the help from you guys on this site, I trust your knowledge over any other. Thanks.

Re: (NOFX)
First off, the OP never said what year or model HIS car is, only what parts he wanted to use.
If you have a 96-98, then you need a floor harness and drivers side door harness from a 96-98 ex coupe. You also need the power module that mounts in the drivers side door.
If you have a 99-00, then you need the floor harness from a 99-00 ex or si. you will also need the power door lock module, but that will be located behind the drivers side kick panel.
The 96-98 and 99-00 floor harness have a different plugs on them at the door and at the rear where your trunk harness plugs into it.
