ek lights dim
The charging system (alternator and such) is fine I got it checked.
When Im on the throttle below 4k rpm the lights are dim, if im off the gas its bright, if im above 4k rpm its bright, if its idling its sometimes dim sometimes bright.
I have a 96 itr swap. Anyone else have this problem?

Re: ek lights dim (hybridcoupe97)
I think that it could be poor grounding wires. I read that with better grounding wires, your lights will not dim. That's why the earthing system is made for I believe. That and for better acceleration and torque.

Re: ek lights dim (ej6)
How dim are the lights getting? Dim to the point where you can't see? If so then there is a problem.
If you notice that they just get a tad brighter at high RPMs then I think there is nothing wrong. Mine does it, my friends car does - I think it's just because the alternator is making more power at higher rpms, so the lights shine brither..

Re: ek lights dim (BenB)
My swap is OBDII and the car is a 98.
The lights dont dim to the point where you cant see, but they dim noticably.
Charging was about 14 volts.
Alternator? Well howcome it doesnt do that in an ITR? I have all the grounds. If I want to add another ground where should I add it?
I have a system BUT even with it off it does it.

same **** happened to me
I hit 4K and they were normal, anything below 4K and they would dim. You can still see, but it's ******* annoying.
96 EX w/ b-series
EDIT: stock stereo too

Re: ek lights dim (ej6)
I have the same problem. Dim as soon as I step on the gas pedal, but after 4k-ish, it's back to normal.
98spec JDM ITR swap, and matching JDM ECU.
Alternator is good.
Added earthing wires. So grounding is good.
All the connections are clean and proper.
I tried a usdm chipped P28 by Katman, and his jumper harness. That solved the problem.
So it's either my JDM ECU, or my jumper harness that's the culprit.

Yeah ME TOO... what the heck.. I have a OBD I motor with the skunk 2 adapter harness. same story.
Could it be the ecu? or the harness?
I was thinking that I need more grounds/ better grounds...

Are you guys running stock headlight bulbs?

Re: ek lights dim (98CTRCoupe)
I have a 97 DX with a 99 B18b using the skunk2 obd conversion harness to run a OBD1 ecu and have the same problem. Its really annoying while driving at night especially since all the interior lights dim and brighten too. If anyone has any real clue as how to fix this let me know.

Re: ek lights dim (ej6)
well if you have the problem only when you let go of the gas you lose your lights more than likely it the alternator, but if you got a big watt amp it may be pulling to much power from the car? have the charing system checked my a local machanikc you trust.
