Default EK k20a drop in questions???

1) Would you just need the mounts or is there more fabricating needed to perform the swap?
2) Would the stock suspension be able to hold up to the k20a motor and tranny?

3) When are the mounts coming out for the k20a?

4) Who is making the mounts?

THANKS for the help
I posted this in the hybrid forum wasnt sure what forum would be the best.
Sorry if it doesnt belong here.

I personally think its a fad. If the k20a proves to be a reliable swap (as reliable as a b18c5) I will take that comment back.....until then I'd say use the $5k for a Type-R swap (DC2 Type-R not DC5 type-R)

Go for it. I have done some research and I can offer you some advice. The couple people that have done this swap in a EK are being pretty secretive about HOW they did it, because at this point the K swap is in early development stages and the cars are prototypes.

K series is the future. Honda this time has broken new barriers. In order for ECU to be reprogrammed no chip is needed any more. They can reprogram the ECU just by plugging into it (ECU flashing) The 12 fuel maps that are contained in the ECU (6 high rev, 6 low rev) are still not fully identified and understood. Hondata is able to add 20HP just by flashing the ECU.

If your frind is trying to do this with no help from professionals, I would suggest a front clip. This way, he can take see exaclty how the engine sits int he RSX bay. A front clip will also contain an in dash harness that would make the wiring a little bit less complicated.

The immobilizer can be bypassed. But if your friend hopes to integrate the civic cluster with the RSX engine harness and RSX ECU.... that is a another story.

It is possible but only a very compitent electronics car mechanic could do it, IMO.

1) i heard someone talking about using D series mounts, but modifying them to work.
2) the stock suspension will be FINE, the k series is something like 20-50 LBS lighter than a B18c5
3) no one knows when hasport is comming out with mounts, or if anyone is comming out with mounts, members on this board have fabricated their own mounts. if you manage to contact pacman, he can hook you up with a set
4) Like i said, pacman makes the mounts, maybe area 51 can do it too ( i have no idea whether they are in buisness still or not, i have heard many rumors )
but maybe jimfab, or hasport will come out with something

how can you think that? k20's like everyone says, ARE the future, 275 WHP N/A is ******* incredible considering the R and D time aftermarket parts have had.

it took people a while to get the b16's and such into an EF, but its been done.

and its the same this with this, i think vtecvoodoo (ryan) is doin a type-S swap into an EH or an EJ

It's just the type of thing that takes time. The b-series motor has been proven to be an awesome swap into an EH(EG), EK, and EF chasis. I just don't know how the K-series will hold up. It's a newer motor, and I'm sure there are very few 100k mileage k-series out there, if any. Until there are some roaming everywhere, I will stick to my b-series favor. K-series may be the future, but they are just not the present....
