EJ6 water leak in trunk
Hey guys, so I have water coming into my trunk. I have removed all the interior paneling to find out where it's getting in. I have located the source of the leak. Water is coming in along the drainage groove for the hatch, and then running down the side of the tail light (no water is entering the tail light housing), down the chassis and into the trunk. Here are some pictures.
It seems to be caused by the foam seal on the back of the tail light. I have removed the tail light, cleaned out the entire area, as well as the foam seal, adjusted the placement of the seal, and tightened the 4 bolts holding the light in place. That did not work. Water appears to be collecting in the bottom portion of the seal (see 2nd picture), then making it's way into my trunk. I was considering applying caulking or silicone bead along the top of the tail light housing and in the corner where it meets the drainage groove but I would like some advice from any of you who have had this problem before.
