EG w/ 380,000 km = beater?
I've owned many honda's over the years and understand that
they are reliable vehicles.
I'm in the processes of looking for a winter beater. There is
a 93 civic coupe for sale in my area for 1700 CDN. It comes
with 17's (some curbage) a stainless exhaust, SRI.
The car has 380,000 km on it and thats why it is selling so
cheap. The body looks like it's in decent shape, but its hard
to tell because it looks like it's been painted recently.
I know honda's make good motors but is 380 pushing it?
It seems to drive well, all things considered. Its an auto,
I've never owned an auto vehicle. What is the normal life
span of an auto honda tranny?
Hmm... i'm not sure on this one.

My Saturn had an auto and 330,000 kms, it's still going strong in the hands of an another driver. It's all about the maintenance. Also, I've seen many Accords with 400+ kms on them... so why not a Civic? Also, seen a 92 integra, original motor and tranny, 780,000 kms on display at a local dealer.

Yeah 380 is alot... and your right the car is total rice. its even got the
altezzas and 4" muff.
Its just been saftey inspected, but that could just be a dodgy sticker.
Think I should take a chance on this one?

1.) Lower the price, then ya, sure...
- Why not have the compression tested? And yes, honda auto trannies do seem to last forever...
2.) Are you planning for an engine swap at a later date?

in my 93 ex the tranny went with 80,000 miles, so i wouldn't say that they last forever.

look at it like this if the body is in good shape its worth it just 4 the shell and feel around the rear quarters to see if its been rotted out to get a general idea how much work has been done body wise........does he have service records being it is higher mileage......miles really dont mean a damn thing i personaly think higher miles is sometimes better cuz every thing that is going to break already broke serivce records would be a big plus
