Icon2 EG with Type R 5-Lug Shock Replacement Question

Hey everyone,

I've avoided asking stupid questions for a while but everything I'm doing to my car is becoming overwhelming and I can't find the answer that I'm looking for online. This is my first Honda build...

Anyways, enough of the "please have pity on me" disclaimer, here's the situation. For now I'm focusing on upgrading my suspension and brakes. I have a 1995 EG Hatch and I recently purchased an ITR 5-Lug conversion (36mm). I haven't removed my Civic' suspension yet to do a direct comparison because I still need the rolling chassis. Now I'm looking to replace my shocks and springs but when I look at online providers, the drop down menus make you select the vehicle make and model for the application. For the Koni Yellow struts it looks like the fronts are the same because the same part number comes up when I look at the Integra Type R and the Civic Hatch but when I look at the rear shocks a different part number comes up. (Example: searching Tirerack.com the fronts are both P/N 8041-1152 but the rear Type R's are 8041-1164 and the Civic's are 8041-1153) At this point I'm really confused because I know the trailing arms are the same. So, my question is: For which application should I choose for my hybrid suspension system? Type R or Civic or something else?

I guess I also need to know which Lower Control Arms (LCA) to source as well.

I've found plenty of threads and website about installing the conversion and that should be easy. I just don't know about the rest of the parts for the hybrid application.

I'll save the first responder from having to post this: There, it's already up.

Thanks in advance for your responses. Feel free to post a link to threads or websites that have already covered this. I apologize for not having found them already...

if you run "type r" rear lower control arms then type r rear shocks, if you run "civic" rear control arms then run civic rear shocks. Its that simple.

Thanks so much man. I figured I was missing something really basic.

Are there any advantages for going one way or the other?

the type r will have sway bar mount holes, the civic's probably wont but you can use 94+ integra (non type r) ones and they have holes. Either one will do just fine. I have two eg's and they both have type r lower control arms. The jdm civics also came with the type r style stock.

thats it I would get some aftermarket Lower control arms made for the civic and get the shocks for the civic. Make it so the only thing you will need to order type-r parts for is the brakes.
