EG Lexan Rear Window...Results of 30hrs of work...
Well, me and Walter (Velasco) started working on this back window last week. And then a few more evenings afterwards. Our basic goal was to make it nicer then any other home made window out there. What you see are the results of less then $100 in materials and about 30 hrs total of "labor" with lots of smoke breaks for me.
Basically we traced the stock glass onto the lexan to get a basic shape. We bolted it up to the stock hinges and held it flat while I used electrical tape to mark where we would be cutting so that it would be flush to the body. After a bunch of hand filing to make the fit as perfect as we could, we moved onto the dzus fastners. Then more hand fitting etc.
The last part was to mark of the black outline, then sanding then painting from the bottom.
anyway, here it is. We are very happy with the results.

Hell yeah dude looks good!
BTW, When's it going back to the track? I'm waiting for more site updates!
What did you use to paint the lexan black there and what thickness did you use? You get this stuff from home depot?

We are working on site updates now, but my job, my car, and Walters car keep me real busy.
It will be back on the track this year...assembling the b20 now.
The lexan is 3/16th i think. We got it from Tap Plastics. It was about $40 if I remember. We used lexan paint for r/c cars to paint the black part. We just sanded it to make it stick better.

I'll write something up for the website.
For more, but older pics of the car, goto http://www.velascoracing.com
we are planning a bid update for the site to introduce a couple of sponsors, and a bunch of other stuff...

is it pretty strong? What did you use to cut it?
We used a jigsaw with a blade for cutting sheetmetal.

Jeez that's bad-*** looking. Well worth the effort from the looks of those pics.
The curvature looks dead-on too - again how'd you get the lexan to curve just right? Did it just sort of "fit" like that after you fastened it into place?
Again, nice work!
