EG/EK Civics better than 2001+ Civics?
From a racing stand point, not features. I have heard that the EG/EK have better suspensions and chassis than the newer Civics. Is this true?

i highly doubt that, my friend has a 08 si and they have sum beefy *** suspension and they can handle like no other, that could be of traction control and stability assist

Who told you that? I would figure the newer civic would have better suspension.. Honda made the 08 civic to be better then the 07.. And the 09 to be better then the 08. Get what I'm saying?

The older civics have double wishbone suspension on all 4 corners.
The newer cars switched to a strut set up. They didn't switch because it was better or more durable. They did it because it is more compact, allowing more available room inside the car. It wasn't a performance modification.
There is nothing wrong with that, except that it lacks the adjustability of double wishbone.
Almost all real race cars, the kind that could never be street legal like formula cars, use double wishbone for this reason.
The later models aren't better simply because they are newer. I think most here would agree that the Integra Type R is the best fwd car ever sold in this country.

i couldnt agree more, from a racing standpoint as far as adjustability and aftermarket backing, id rather have a 92-95 or 96-00 over any of the newer civic, and yes even over the new Si

yeah, 01-05 suck the worst out of any civic on the road... sorry to those of you who have one.
they aren't bad cars altogether, they just aren't as good as the eg/ek.
also no, it's not as easy as making the next year better than the one before. they do try to make the new ones more desirable than the previous model so it will sell. the designers and engineers have more to concider than makeing a new car more of a race car than it's predecessor.
the 01-05 had to be an Si hatch to come with a decent motor. the D17 from a tune standpoint is a pile of parts to swap into an older motor to make a franken-motor... otherwise junk.
there's more but i'm tired of typing.
