EG or Del Sol

EG or Del Sol
Well it turns out that the EG I was looking at is sold. So now I am back at step 1.
It is very hard to find an EG hatch in the South(anyone know of one) so I was thinking of maybe getting a Del Sol Si. These seem to have quite a bit of potiental. They can run about 14's with the Greddy kit on 8 psi. I would like to run low 13's but I dont know if I would need to fortify the interanls(cost??)
Throw me out some suggestions

Who's driving?
del Sols have potential but they are quite a bit heavier than the Civics, due to their convertible top. I would say that you would probably have to reinforce the internals, if you want good reliability. I would say just wait around for another one, or search neighboring states to try and find one, but I'm a little biased

not true my 97 del sol roof never squeaks, i think they did some things to help the squeaks and leakage in the new sols

You are one biased woman. Del Sols weigh around the SAME weight a a civic if not lighter. SOME hactches are lighter. Coupes is a MAYBE. keep your biased info to yourself please.

Re: EG or Del Sol (pbsis)
Ok the sols wigh less than the coupes and the 4 doors but the hatches weight the same or slightly lighter. the thing with the sol is the chasis flex. there is a lot of it due to the targa top. and the 93 Si's are actually EHs not eg's but all the eg and teg parts are interchangable with it. the roof seals where upgrated in 95 so it wouldnt leak or squeek. I personally have a 93 sol and I love the damn thing. yes it only seats two but thats part of the reason I love it. If I were you i would just get a del sol s for cheap and swap it rather than paying all that money for the b16 version. just a thought.

girls love the sols (meaning you'd pull more girls than with a hatch LOL). they say EH's look like eggs. get the base S model. weighs the least. gut it out and ull weigh as much as a hatch. im biased tho i have a sol too.

depending on what model you get the sol can weigh as much as a 4 dr, so i wouldnt be saying it ways less than a coupe. However, take out PS, AC, etc, gut it like said in the above post, and your fine. Go for the sol, thats what ill be doing

Re: (-_-)
i have a del sol, so i can be biased if i told you to get one. when it comes to a daily driver the sol is more fun to drive cause of the seat position, the seats...the general cockpit. you feel like you're in a sports car (even though you're not) where as a civic is just another car.

Re: (duh blacksheep)
i have a EG2 del sol and a 94 EG hatch. personally i love my del sol more fun at the turns and you can always take the roof off, in SF 2 person can be driving in carpool lane. oh did i mention it's alot faster with the b16a3 in the sol.

sure everyone has the EG hatch, because it works. if you have your mind set on a del sol then get one, even if their bodies flex to the point of popping out the rear window. sure girls may dig the del sol a lot, but then again they also dig euro-ricer APC lights. on the other hand, dont worry about it being a girlie-man car. that could work to your advantage if you make it hella fast!

Mine doesnt do either. Rattling a little on major bumps yes, but all in all the sol is a fun car to drive and has a short whell base for better cornering (unmodded). I love my Sol SI ive owned a 93 SI and i currently own a 94. Plus Sol's hold value better than other EG

Re: (Phelixthecat)
92 hatches dont have a curb weight of 2000lbs, not even the crx has a curb weight of less than 2200. yeah, the del sol is slightly heavier when it comes to weight reduction potential...but for a daily driver, who cares?

Re: (duh blacksheep)
i believe i was just reading that certain hatches (92-95) CX and VX weigh about 2094...........
though i might be wrong...
and the last time i checked, the 93 del sol S weighs 2275 LBS.... but again i might not be exactly correct...
