eg with d16y8 need help
ok i have a eg hatch and i put in a d16y8 out of my dads ex did all the distributor and alternator changes did everything hooked up a ls wiring harness and everything. now when i start it up it runs fine just idles a little high but once i start to give it gas it will rev to about 1500 and completely sound like the motor died. i let out of it push clutch in and it comes back. ive talked with my uncle he said that since its newer i need a different d series intake manifold because there is usually this little white sensor on top. that the newer one doesnt have.. could this b a reason why its running like this??? and also i had a p28 but it was a bad ecu so i used my dads gsr ecu toi start it up and then also used a p06 still nothing fixes it just got my new p28 yesterday but have intake tore apart lol...

sounds like you got the map/tps backwards or the map isnt working
the white sensor is the iat...its the same sensor that goes in the intake tube in obd2 cars. just extend the wires and use the obd2 sensor.
did you wire in the different purge and run a vacuum line to the little tiny nipple on the bottom on the intake manifold? also, how did you rewire the dist/injectors? a dist from a 92-95 cx/dx/lx will bolt up and work fine with a y8 with no wiring mods needed

can u explain the map and tps a little more i not to smart on these things and i had my uncle come over who has done like 25 swaps and he finished hooking everything up right.. and whats a iat lol....i rewired the injectors by i took my dads old harness the obd2 and cut and stripped souddered tigether and heat shrinked all of it. and i made sure they were to right wires all same colors etc..

1. you need to extened the iat wires and use an obd2 intake tube. obd1 manifolds use the white sensor
2. get an obd1 evap purge solenoid. its the sensor on the back/top/right of the intake manifold. its bolted to the center of the fuel rail on obd2 cars. its need 3 vac lines...1 comes from the tiny as **** nipple on the bottom of the y8 intake manifold, 1 comes from the charcoal canister, 1 other comes from somewhere else on the intake manifold
3. other than that everything should be plug and play except the injectors which you said you rewired for...what did you do for a distributor? did you rewire for an obd2 style plug or did you use a d15b7/b8 dist?

i got the diff distributor from a d15 and can i drill a hole in my new intake tube?? and install the plug in it? i have the old intake but wanna use my aftermarket one..

ok i had the intake manifold off put it all back on the right way everything and now the car wont turn over at all. all i here is the fuel pump priming them nothing at all... ?? what could it be
?

your makin this way too complicated than it really is.
put your P06 intake manifold on it, use YOUR wiring harness in it, then all you have to do is run vtec. and your done with all that stupid ****in obd-2 bullshit. i put the same engine in my car (long ago) and had not a single problem with it.
and you have an engine ground off, or that black wire came off your started.

i only have what came on the motor in 97 besides i changed the alternator and distributor i think i have a bad map sensor. so the motor is set up for a obd1..
i using ls harness and p28 ecu and going to extend wires for the intake sensor... i dont get it.. lol

ok here is what is going on it is throwing CEL 4, 19 and also the vtec ones but its because it is not hookep. the car runs fine all the way up to around 3500-4000 then acts like it has a 2 step. I do not have a obd-1 intake mani or it would be on there. The distributer is obd-1. I dont understand the cel 4 since the car is obd-1. Any help would be great, and i will be replacing the purge as soon as i find one

one of your fuel injectors must be unplugged. if its "two-stepping" as you say then that would probably be your problem. seeing how you cut injector plugs and such. good luck.

i was wiring my car up and found this extra plug i have no idea what it is me or my uncle have never seen this and its weird its coming from the harness that goes through firewall here are the pictures

see the vin shows up as it is but like isnt the cx the only car with only driver side mirror and no power no air conditioning and no side moldings. i thought my car was a cx

Hey I Have the Same Problem Man the Idle is Rough Up and Down I have A VX Hatch too And We just swapped out the stock motor ZC for a D16y8 heres the setup:
D16y8 motor with 96 Intake Mani and y8 Dizzy
Stock VX Harness Used
Stock ECU used
Okay is it better to use the 99-00 Intake Mani because the d16y8 is a 2000 and also we have a wire hanging of the engine harness from the back of the intake manifold. And there is no vacuum leak and the IAC was cleaned already everything starts but the idle and should we be fixing the CEL during this process too. Thank You
