Default which ecu do i need? * i tried a search but was unsuccessful

i have a 92 hatch with a b16a2, car came with some retarded chipped ecu and is running poorly and the smog ref aint havin it. I was wondering what ecu i need to replace it with... do i need the p30 from a usdm b16? or would a jdm ecu work?
please help!

also this is my second post on ht although ive been viewing for years.. whatup homies!!!

either will work i belive, but the p30 would probably be better for emissions . . .

Since the engine is not JDM, the JDM option wont work. Match the ECU to the car the engine came from. If its from a del sol, you need a P30.

why wouldnt the JDM ecu work on the usdm b16? jsut curious.

If it was a USDM motor, then the ref will not accept the JDM ecu. At least, I should say, the ref SHOULD NOT accept the ECU. They all seem to have thier own book of rules they play by.

your right
just looked at the block says just "b16a" its got hydro tranny if that makes any diff
off to a bad start

Locate a JDM B16 ecu. This is your best bet considering OBD-1 US P30's are rare.

They usually run a touch more fuel, but also run more ignition advance as well. I would think this would effect emissions to a point. Enough to fail smog? No.

why don't you just run a p28? maybe chipped on a simple basemap if anything.

Just buy a USDM P30 theres actually a good amount of people on here with one. I bought mine a month ago from "Gump" for 150 shipped and saw like 3 others for 150 shipped.

People always ask him if its for sale and I guess they flake lol I also deleted my post from it because I didn't want people thinking it was sold

I might sell mine once I take my car through inspection, but that might not be for a while

LOL, thats Cris selling it too. Imagine that, I talk to him all the time. Oh well, I already pulled the B16 from my friends car and put the stock Y7 back in..
