Hey HT. Im thinking of buying a set of coilovers and dunno what to pay. I mean wtf's fair? .....what would you guys pay for a complete set of "stock looking shocks" with coilovers that haven't been identified? I know we can find parts anywhere from the grocery store, to Joe Shmoe on the street...if anyones gotta pair of decent coilovers, I have cash in hand lol Thanks!

yeah, if I were you I would save up for full sleeve coilovers. Unless your like me and you really wanted to lower em you could get Ground Control coilovers. But its a better idea to save for full sleeves, my struts are still holding up :\

A common misconception with eBay coil-overs is that they cause blown shocks. This isn't necessarily true. Usually when someone purchases them, they re-use their stock shocks to save money. Those stock shocks aren't meant for lowering springs of any kind. Eventually the reduced travel and higher spring rate of the new coil-overs/lowering springs leads to their failure, that's when you would experience a "bouncy" or otherwise unpleasant ride. If you buy aftermarket shocks/struts that are meant for lowering applications you can use eBay coil-overs and have a pretty decent ride quality. I speak from personal experience.

jus get lowering springs if your on a budget, coil overs especially ebay ones, although good,
will destroy your struts! especially if u go all the way down the 3.5"=4" they let u =(
i have owned ebay coilovers and they rode good, but struts, which were new, went real fast
compared to when i had springs

btw u can get some decent springs for cheap...tein s-techs for like $150 shipped maybe less, and they ride like stock but provide a great look and improve handling well.

Ok so Im going with my gut and ignoring the "deals" on ebay...I used to own a 98 Neon Rt with Eibach and Kybs and never had a prob, and the fact that it wasnt adjustable was the least of my concerns. I could care less when I've got a sleek looking Ej with an Ap1 cluster and wheels and she's riding on rails. Im glad I at least posted here before going too far with Ebay hopes and dreams. I mean there's alot of useful stuff there, but I think Ill just settle with a decent of Tokicos and tein springs and throw on a camber kit... Thanks guys..BTW, anyone from Delaware area? I left my friends and tools back in Maine and JUST bought my first honda..wtf was I waiting for all these years lol I do miss proving the Haters wrong with a "just a" neon...she sounded like sex, and she def held her own...hahaha

Man, you do not have to spend $1200 for a good set of coilovers.

Would a $1200 suspension be nice? Hell yea! But they are not necessary for a person looking for good performance on the street.

Check out various performance sites (weksos industries I know was running a special on coilovers recently, and possibly still are) and check out some of the offerings. I know Tanabe makes a good coilover for like $800 and I hear good reviews all the time about ground controls on good shocks/struts (usually Koni Yellows).

Just my opinion. Good luck!

don't waste your time/money on ebay anything.. $700-$800 for brand new omni power coilovers/struts (ride is great and price is also very good)... i got the tein ss on my ek and i like it.. those will run you $1200+.. i'd go w/ omni for the price and quality ride.

do some research on different shocks/struts and coilover sleeves. you can create your own set up without breaking the bank.

i'd rather have a good set of springs. chances are you will spend all that money on full coilovers, and never use them to their complete purpose. know what i mean? sure, you can take the on-ramp a little faster, but seriously, 800 bucks to ride good in town and on the highway is rediculous. to me anyway. now if you track the car on a regular basis, i can see spending that much. just my 2 cents.
