E-brake handle on 99 civic ex coupe

E-brake handle on 99 civic ex coupe
I dont know much about civics so i figure i would come here. My girlfriend has a 99 ex coupe and i bought her an e-brake handle from jc whitney...(yes it ricey but SHE likes it) so i was goin to put it on for her one day and i swear this is the most impossible thing to do....how do i get the e-brake handle off???? Thanks for the help

take the center console off(around the armrest inbetween the seats, umm 4 screws) and it should unscrew by the base of the ebrake handle

A dremel with a cut off disc is the best way to go because the plastic is molded on. I unfortunately used a hack saw which took a long time.
