Re: dyeing seats?? (dannydos)
i just used that dupli color fabric and vinyl spray a week ago on my seats. turned out awesome. i bought a white EG hatch and it had that blue interior, i hated it. this was so much cheaper then new dash ans seats. worked really well.

Re: (CivicVelox17)
if its dye its impossible that it would "peel off" its dye and impregnates itself into the material, it doesnt lay on the surface like paint

i used that dupli color fabric and vinyl stuff on my door panel inserts, dash, and other plastics--the panels started to fade and it looks like crap and the dash scratched and peeled....i wouldnt suggest it...you'll end up spending a bunch of money on paint...then it will turn to crap, and you'll decide to buy the real parts instead--- but i guess you have to live and learn, try it out and see how you like it, maybe it will work for you

Re: (egcivic611)
as long as it is preped right it should last for a while. i wiped my dash down with alcohol and used the fabric spray and my plastic panels a wiped with lacquer thinner and then used krylon fusion and sprayed everything satin black. I waited a week for it to cure b4 putting it back in. u cant even scrape it or scratch it off. I think it works great. other people have had great luck with the fabric dye. i searched b4 trying it. give it a shot. @$4 a can i used 2 cans to do my dash and both seats and both door panels. I had nothing to lose if it didnt work i was getting rid of that nasty blue dash anyway.

my suggestion--save up your money and buy the new parts....its cleaner, nicer, and you dont have to worry about whether or not its going to fade...plus, you have a better chance at selling the old stock stuff when its not painted--people on ebay buy almost anything (even "nasty blue dashes") but it is your car, do with it what you like

Why does that matter? If his seats look like crap and he wants to do a DIY prject to make them look better, why shouldn't he try it.

Re: dyeing seats?? (IslandSi)
If anyone here has dyed their seats, doesn't it come off or bleed on your clothes? I'd be terrified to dye anything I sat on for long periods of time because I don't want my clothes all messed up.
I can see it now, on a date
Me: Hey, baby....umm...that white skirt is looking kinda gray in the *** area.
Her: What? OMG YOUR SEATS MESSED UP MY CLOTHES?!!? IM GOING HOME AND YOU'RE NOT GETTING ANY TONIGHT!!!

sig material right there.
I've heard that duplicolor stuff fades though. So I guess in the end it wouldn't be worth the time? There's a thread on this somewhere, I'll look around for it.
