try to install drum brake cover and it will not fit.

so i kicked the car and the jack fell and the lower control arm is all bent. <J/k>

not funny but i wish i could of kick the damn car.

so how can i get that cover to fit i have the manual and did everything it said and still nothing?????

all drum brakes I've worked on you have to adjust them in as the new pads have a lot more meat on then, hope this helps. Funny story though, thanks for the good laugh.

Yep, move the self-adjuster gear enough until you see the shoes retracting. The drum should slip right on after this... but now you want to take it off again and move the shoes back up so they are making slight contact. You should have some resistance when you try to turn the drum when it's on, but not so much that you can't turn it with one hand...

You need to have the E brake off when putting the drum on. Then loosen the self adjust nut enough to get the drum on.

And jackstands are $10 at autozone.

I hate drums thats why you get rear disks like me. My wheel cylinder on my drums gave out next to mac truck and I couldn't slow down to save my butt. thankfully it was late and not much traffic so I got off the road with out a scratch

lol.... i nailed that one Aight this is what you do. Get a piece of 2x4 on the front ties and put it in gear (if its a manual) Then drop the E brake. When the E brake is down it should go right on.

same here which is why i asked haha. luckily, it wasn't that HARD and and the cylinder's decompressed after 48 hours.

Pull the rubber boots back on the wheel cylinders on both sides, make sure there is no brake fluid in there. If there is, you might as well replace them now before they damage anything else. If they are leaking, even slowly, and some of the brake fluid goes on any of your brand new friction material, you'll be replacing it all again. Just a heads up to do it right the first time, save yourself some money and headaches in the near future.

ok i was wondering my these were alittle too big.

so i took the other side off to check and it was off alot.

ok so figured out they gave me the wrong parts.

then i install the old one's and started bleeding the brakes with the other side drum off.

the cylinder popped off and fulid leaked everywhere ok so. i decide to started to please the side that popped off and then i go for the bleeder valve and broke it off&gt;&gt;&gt; mother **** the bitch snapped in half.

so i thin i have to take the whole assembely off ? and drill the vavle out i guess??? or sell the car????

drums arnt fun.. i remeber the first time i did a brake job on a honda drum.
i fucked the wheel cyl up and had to replace it and got pissed and took the whole drum assembly off.. but once i looked it it long enough and i understood how all the springs and **** worked. it ws worth learning, cause ill never **** one up again.

Just buy new wheel cylinders. Don't drill and tap them or sell your car.

And after you install them, make sure when you are bleeding them that the drum is on.

They're cheap, less than $20. You can get a rebuild kit at Napa for less than $5. I rebuilt mine, it's only one or two O-rings and the rubber boots.
