louder? like 100 times louder. You reminded me of the time i drove to the muffler shop after doing a swap with nothing but headers on at about 8 am. I woke up the whole neighborhood.

it will be WAY louder.
most likely you will get a ticket for "modified emissions" and you'll have to go through smog. if your LUCKY and you dont have a dick for a cop pull you over you can explain to the cop that your muffler rusted out and youre on your way to buy a new one and have it installed, then cross your fingers and hope he buys it.

it doesnt have to be. if your exhaust is modified, cops write it up as modified emissions, regardless. doesnt mean you will have to pay, but you will have to go through smog.

u guys are all on crack... lol
i got a z6 with cai header no cat 18 inch resonator and no muffler.. the pipe goes all the way to the bumper.. but theres no muffler... if i keep it under 3500 its not that much louder than my friends car
b16 intake tri y header no cat exaust with a eg6 muffler... it is a bit deep.. but its not even taht raspy.. it barely gets raspy in vtec at 5k but goes away at 5400

it'll get loud and depending on the cop that stops you, who knows what he'll write you up on...it could be a measly fix-it ticket to a state ref ticket...i wouldn't even chance it if i were you living in cali...

It's incredibly loud, at least with a H22.
I went for a ride in my friend's car with no muffler (rusted out & fell off). It was unbarably loud, especially when in the upper RPM range.

Word, I was driving my friend's GSR coupe around for a bit and the exhaust systme ended at the end of the header... It was very very loud, people did NOT appreciate it...cops seemed particularly annoyed, it was louder than any exhaust I've heard :-\
Anyways, it's very loud, and you'll very likely get a ticket :-\

Re: Driving Without a Muffler? (siregcivic)
EKSi I have a bone stock Em1 and because of crapy snow/salt, last month my exhaust broke at the flange where it meets the b pipe. I tookt he whole axle back off and belive it or not it sounds just about the same as a apexi world sport. It was loud only when on VTAKKKKKKKKKKKKK mode. Im highlly thinking of thaking that cheap replacement muffler I have now and just go out there with no exhaust.
