door won't open from inside\outside
okay guys I need some help I don't usally post here but I have to help my friend out she drives a 96 4 door civic and the door doesn't open from the outside..it did from the inside till one of her friends put on the child lock on..and yeah so now it won't open..question 1..can I remove the rear passanger door panel with the door closed? if I can question 2...what should I lloook for?? thanksinadvance

He's right, there's no room to remove the door panel. First of all, there are 5 screws you have to take out, and numerous plastic snap-ins pieces.. ALso the tweeter must be popped loose from the top with a flat screwdriver to even get the door panel off. Sorry, so unless you want to destroy the panel to get to the door lock mechanism and get a new one at the junkyard/honda dealership (rip-off), you're outta luck..

I think he's talking about a rear door as they should be the only ones with a child safety lock, right? most of what they said still applies though. Try taking the rear seat out and see if you can see all the edges of the door panel. If you can you might be able to take it off. You'll be looking for a rod that comes from the outside door handle. It will most likely still be in the handle and where the other end connects, it will have come off or broken the plastic tab that holds it in. Worst case scenario, she'll have to buy a new door panel and a new outside handle. Just be sure you have disconnected everything before you go ripping away.
