It's not wierd, it's Honda's way of keepin' morons from lockin' their keys in their car.
That's all you need to do is pull the handle and then lock it but with a '99 EX you should have keyless entry....

That is correct. I USED to have keyless entry but one of the 2 idiots that had the car before me got rid of it. Not to thread jack, but does anyone know how I can check and see if the keyless entry reciever(if thats what its called) is still on my car? I have an aftermarket stereo and I know that is part of the problem.

Re: Door wont lock (DOHC4life)
On the 99-00 models, the keyless entry module is located on the left (driver's side) kick panel. On the 96-98 models, it's in the radio (worst idea ever).
It's a fist-sized, rectangular shaped cube, looks like a big version of the main relay. 18p connector going into it.
On the driver's door (make sure it's closed, as pointed out above) check the interior switch. if it doesn't work (aka, door not locking and unlocking), pull the door handle off, and jumper the middle pin to either of the two outside pins. one will lock it, one will unlock it. If that's working, your switch is broke. If not, somethings messed up in the door. pull off the rest of the components (window crank if you have one, handle pocket, etc) and pop the door panel off. Disconnect the door lock actuator. It has a 4-pin plug. Looking at the plug with the clip-side up, starting from the left, it's pin 1-4. Get a battery (or long wires) and send +Vdc to pin 1 and Ground to pin 2, the actuator should lock. Send Ground to pin 1 and +Vdc to pin 2, and it should unlock. If it's not, try removing the actuator from the lock arm, and see if it works. You might just have something stuck down in there.

Re: Door wont lock (project_mercy)
Okay, now that I know the keyless entry module WAS in the stock radio, my next questions are: Is there any way of putting the 99-00 module in my 96? Or do I just have to settle for an aftermarket one?

Re: Door wont lock (DOHC4life)
I know this is an older thread and I am kinda thread jacking but since all of you seem to know what you are talking about with the factory keyless and doorlocks. Is there a way to install the factory lock module in a dx. and I know that the keyless is in the kick panel but is there another module in the door (no, not the actuator)? I am trying to do this swap on my hatch and am having a hard time finding any info on it.
