Default Door Weatherstrip Removal?

Am replacing my crunched passenger side doors on my 94 DX sedan with a pair I bought off CL. The new/used doors are missing the weather stripping so I need to carefully remove it off my old doors and reinstall it without destroying the small retaining clips found along the stripping that attach it to the door frame. Is there a special tool to release/remove the ? Something like a miniature version of one of those door panel clip removal tools? BTW - this is the main, thick weatherstripping that seals the doors when closed.

Thanks but what I need is info pertaining to R&R'ing the thick weatherstripping that seals the entire door when closed, not the moulding/trim.

The seal is very easy. Yank off door panel, remove glass and seal. Reverse order with new seal.

I don't think we're on the same page, Ron. I'm talking about the weatherstrip that encircles the entire door and seals against the door frame when the door is closed, keeping dust/moisture out. I want to know how to remove it without damage and reinstall it again, if this is possible.

Post pictures.

We're on the same page. It literally pulls right out. It's just tucked into a groove.

Add car information to your first post.

He's talking about the rubber surrounding of the entire door, not the glass molding that you're referring to Ron.

OP, its kind of tedious and actually hard to explain on how to do this. Just be careful on not ripping it.

Oh, maybe you mean the inner weatherstrip?

Thanks, Tony.

There seem to be tiny retaining posts that are set into the rubber seal on one side and fit/grip tightly into regularly spaced small holes in the door body around the entire seal. Looking for the best method to get them out without tearing them loose from the seal or damaging them so they don't hold when reinstalled.

It's a 94 DX Sedan. Here's a photo of some of the retainer posts that were left in the doors I bought. Whoever took the weatherstripping from said doors evidently just yanked it off leaving the retainers in place.

Door showing old retainers still in place

So, its a rubber strip. Has tiny holes on side that touches the door frame. The retainers are the challenge. In order to remove it you would have to stretch the tiny hole to get one side of the retainer out and than slide the other end out. Do you get it?

Yes, I get it

As I've said multiple times, it's the primary weatherstrip on the doors responsible for sealing out dust/moisture.

I assumed that someone here had to have removed/replaced/reinstalled the stuff in the past and knew the best way to do it without fu*king up the strip itself or the retainers up, if that's even possible. I can't afford to purchase new weatherstrip and my existing seems to be in good shape so I figured it should be reusable.

I guess I'll just stop by a Auto Body Repair place today and get the answers to my questions from them...

I did and I gave you instructions on how I did it w/o ******* IT UP. You stretch the tiny hole as much as you can to detach it from the clip, one clip at a time. That is it.

So you're saying you remove the weatherstrip, leaving the little retainers in place in the door then to reinstall you have to somehow get the head of the retainer back in that tiny hole on the backside of the strip? Did you actually do this successfully yourself or are you just saying you think this is how to do it?

Not being hard-headed here, just don't want to ruin my W-strip.

Positive tone? WTFE I stated clearly what I was trying to do and the part I was working with. You post wrong info about the glass seals then bag on me?.
