Doing research on street slicks and tires.
I'm still trying to get my planning fully done before i start spending money on what i need for the hatch, and right now I'm looking at tires. I figured this would be a good place to start and get some direction.
It's a 93 hatch DX, and what I'm thinking of doing is finding some street slicks for the stock steelies that i've got on it now, and also going and getting some HX wheels with some nice all-around tires.
I would go with all-out slicks if i planned to go out to the track alot, but this wont be making many trips out to the track. I'd like some good street slicks to throw on during a weekend night or something. HX wheels/tires for normal/daily driving.
I've been searching through alot of old topics on street slicks and the few i've found that stayed on topic made it seem that theyre still for mainly track only. I'd like to be able to drive around town a bit on them, is that possible? Or would i have to downgrade out of good slicks?
If anyone could point me to some good sites/links, or provide me with some good info, ill paypal you a quarter.

Great for dry weather driving, but not for drag racing. The sidewalls are too stiff if your main concern is drag racing with them. I would buy a couple HX or VX rims and get some drag radials that you can cruise around if you want.

Yeah those are pretty good and not too expensive. I'd run those or those BF Goodrich drag radials.. If you want to go all out go with the Mickey Thompson street drags.

I believe the Nittos are more safe on the street then the mickey thompsons. The nittos look more like a regular tire, as the MTs look more like a slick, but both DOT approved.

If you want some sticky tires that you aren't going to drive on very much, the BFG drag radials are pretty good, but they do not last very long. If you want something that lasts a bit longer, the Nitto 555Rs are pretty decent when warm. If you don't really care about cost as much, the MT or M&H Street tires are good too.
