i finally got the damn crank bolt out but now the timing belt is a bitch. im doing a mini me on a 93 cx block which i can let u guys know that is 16 valve relief. i cant get the z6 timing belt on. its way off. the cx belt got 106 teeth if fits but loose. the z6 belt is 104 off cant even fit. is the vx belt 105 teeth.

i think your supposed to use the vx timing belt. i know you use that one when putting the z6 head on a dx motor...so i figure you do the same with the cx motor.

IMPORTANT: Several places on the net and several people on Honda-Tech say that the VX (D15Z1) timing belt is the one to use for this swap because it is for a 1.5L VTEC. THIS IS INCORRECT! When I did the initial head swap, I used a VX timing belt. The VX timing belt was WAY too tight, and whined when the engine was at high rpm. I unfortunately did not discover this until the entire head was assembled. The VX timing belt has 103 teeth, where as the Z6 timing belt has 104 teeth, and the B7 belt 106 teeth. I was finally able to replace the VX timing belt with the Z6 timing belt, and the Z6 timing belt fit much better and didn’t whine. THE D16Z6 timing belt is the correct belt to use with a B7 block / Z6 head combination.

He says the vx has 103 teeth, the z6 has 104 teeth, and the b7 has 106 teeth. I'm glad all 96+ has the same timing belt.

That is incorrect also. It all depends on what 1.5 block you are using. If you look at a D15B7 and D15Z1 block, there are barley any noticable differences besides the belt tensioner. The belt tensioner on the B7 is bigger than the one on the Z1. I'm assuming that since honda made both the CX and VX fuel efficient economy cars, that the blocks are identical. Do the research your self. I got stuck buying a new timing belt for my car. My setup was a D16A6 block with D16Z6 head. I had to use the Z6 timing belt. Once my A6 spun a rod bearing I got my hands on a D15Z1. Now my setup is a D15Z1 block with D16Z6 head. The Z6 timing belt wouldnt work because of the size difference in the belt tensioner. I got stuck buying another brand new $48 VX timing belt.

thats for the tips guy. i got the belt on for some reason, didnt know how i did it but it got on pretty smooth. is the belt suppose to be alittle loose not from the top thought from the side by the exhaust manfiold. i can push it in like half a inch.

Negative. That belt will slip right off once the engine hits high RPM's. Maybe even at idle. If your gonna do it, do it right.

Loosen the bolt on the belt tensioner and pull it up towards you. You will need to remove the black plug on the timing belt cover to gain access to the belt tensioner bolt. Good luck. If you need help just PM me.

hey thanks for the help. everything is done but the car wont start. it juts keep on cranking. i check the cam, its at TDC, but the dizzy rotor doesnt point to cylinder 1 on the dizzy. how can i make it point there. or wats the problem

No, what I said was correct jackass. I said that Z6 belt is the right one to use with the B7/Z6 combination...you're saying that the Z6 belt didn't work with the Z6/Z1 combination...last time I checked the D15B7 was NOT the D15Z1.
