Default DOHC ZC in an EK

I would only like to hear from the people that have good info towards this swap

I have been thinking about this for a while now, I just do know if it's possible.

Question: Is it possible to install a DOHC ZC into an EK?

I know that some little things are different like the camshaft positioning sensor is on the exhaust cam Vs inside the distributor like on obd1/2 cars but what would it really take to do this?

Before I get flamed to go with a Bseries if I want a DOHC, Or to just build another D series. I want to do this.. I want to be different from the rest, And whats more different than putting a obd0 engine in a OBD2/a car lol.

Hmmm, well, you can certainly do the swap, why you would want to install a 20 year old engine into a newer car is beyond me, different or not, there is a reason people do not often do it.....something to thing about!

I used to have one of these swaps about 14 years ago in my crx. It was ok, i mean it's only 130hp...but i was only happy with it for one season. ZC's are notorious for burning oil (i think mostly because of the age).

You will have to run a newer d series distributor, and i think you have to switch the drivers side engine mount, can't recall.

Seriously though, if you weight the pro's and con's of this swap, i do not think they are worth it.

Never mind, After google-ing my a$$ off I've found out the my intake manifold will not bolt up so I guess I'm not doing this lol.

Thanks

Edit: I was going to swap over my turbo kit to the ZC but if my Intake manifold won't swap over then I do not want to do this.

And your point is? The exhaust manifold still bolts up, it has to be port matched, but it does bolt up. The intake manifold is kind of irrelevant here.

Like others have said though it doesn't make much sense to run a DOHC ZC in an EK, you can get an OBD1 version though that will make your like a lot easier if you do decide to proceed.

a z6/y8 swap would be more logical with teh same amount of power basicly...

The point is I have a Intake manifold that runs in support of my turbo setup... I thought you would have gotten that by my last post? Guess people only read what they want to.

Cost of a ZC is cheaper than most low mileaged Z6/Y8 long blocks

Hardly, I would have to go out and purchase a set of ARP studs for a Z6 just to use 1 stud. So thats 120$ right there down the drain..

Why is it everyone is missing the whole forced induction point of this that I posted in the second post.

Start calling people stupid but yet your not even reading the whole post... That seems stupid to me but who am I to judge.

Those old dohc zc's sucked for boost applications, besides it being more than likely to burn oil, it had weak rods too.....boost in stock form would be short lived.
