Thanks man.
As far as anything else, a sohc has only one cam in the head, and one camshaft to control the intake and exhaust ports. A dohc has 2 cams in the head and 2 camshafts to control the intake and exhaust ports. You can swap from one to the other, but you must swap ECMs, motors, transmissions and axles among other parts. Check out the "what swap is available for my civic" thread at the top of the forum to see what is best for you.

Sounds like you're 16. Wait...you are 16.
SOHC = Single Over Head Cam
DOHC = Dual Over Head Cam
Usually, DOHC motors have more power and can be tuned to accept more power. Yes, there is SOHC powerplants making GOOD power, but you'll definitely need to build the crap out of it to make HUGE power. Whichever way you go, it all depends on the $$ you have.

Who's hating? I said both can make good power, just depends on the amount of $$ invested in it. I rather have a nice tuned SOHC than a stock DOHC any day. Probably what I'm going to end up doing. Don't make much $$ down here.
