Default DOHC motors

I am still trying to decide on what engine to drop into my EG(eh2) hatchback. Its a 92 so that gives me a lot of choices however i am trying to get the most bang for the buck. Would a b18a out of a 92 - 93 teg be feasable? the problem with a b16a2 is it cost so damn much. I would love to have my car NA and still be able to pull like 13's and 14's at the track. tell me what you think

Well, a 132 horse power b18a will not get your car into the 14's, and definitely not in the 13's. The b18a out of the 92-93 was an obd1 motor, but it had a cable tranny, which will not work in an EG inless you buy a conversion, and the older motors are setup on the older teg platform, which would require the hasport mount kit like a b16a/b17a. This makes the b18a swap as much as a b16a2/3 but have the hp numbers like a d series. If you want to go for the cheapest b series, go with the 94-up b18b integra motor. The motor makes 142 hp, and nice torque numbers as well. The motor will drop right into your civic, useing the teg mounts that will come with the swap, and the hydrolic clutch tranny will work in the civic as well. You can get these swaps from reputable companies, usdm, or jdm, for about 2000, this includes, everything you will ned to get your car running. The b16a2/3 makes 160 hp, but lackes torque, which in some instances makes it a slight bit undesireable, this swap can be had for 2300 or so. Both with a good driver can get your civic into the 14's.

B16's are fairly cheap, in the $1500-$2800 range, revs freely, but the lack of tourqe makes me reconcider going 1.8. As for a B18a, you can't really go wrong. It's tourqey and has room to upgrade, anywhere from forced induction to a high compression beast. I've seen B18a's go for around $800 -$2000 complete, but ditch the tranny.
So it's on preference, what you're into (e.g. Drag, Road racing, daily etc.) and on what budget will allow.

Good Luck.
Mike

If your going to go the forced induction route (turbo/nitrous/SC) then go B18B. If ur planning to stay N/A, the B16A2 would be a better choice.

Id consider a CL Type S motor. Look I know it aint a DOHC and all but it has mad torque son and my boy has one in his EG. He ran a 13.1 with just the motor and a homemade ram air hood. Either that or gets a turbo H22.
