I had mine like that until it hydro locked it. I'd suggest you put your splash guards back in or run short ram.

Do you drive your car in the rain?

If you do not a good idea to have a cold air

I would not run it like that. I made my own CAI and it fit fine inside the splash guards.

i didnt just take off the splash guards, i cut them out, so i cant really "put" them back in... and i dont drive it in the rain, but idk that doesnt seem right to me, how it is so close to the ground, is there anything i can drill behind it so i can cover it up and so it looks better? maybe another piece of plastic or something? any ideas?

they make splash shields for the filter, or you could make your own, and you should get an air bypass valve also

wow... are u serious, ur asking for a really dirty air filter. the splash guard is there for a reason. This is asking for a hydrolock also, if you live in a rainy place.

hey guys, all i wanna know is, what is the best way to pull the filter up so it doesnt sit so low, the only way i can think of is, to pull the 2nd part of the pipe an inch or two higher and hold it there with something but idk what to use? any ideas? i will try to put some black plastic around the filter so it doesnt get dirty and so its not loose.

Hydrolock waiting to happen!

And can you cut a small section out of the piping, so that it pulls the filter up higher? I don't know how many pieces it is, just trying to help man.

yeah its a bypass valve, it evaporates water that gets level with your manifold. I have a cold air and i drive in the rain and as long as u dont completely submerge your filter u should be fine, but get splash gaurds back on that and cut ur piping and throw on a bypass valve to be safe. a few bills to save a motor is worht it imo

i purposely cut the splash guards because my filter wouldnt fit... dont u think that if i bring the filter up an inch higher that it should be fine, its not really dusty where i live nor does it ever rain lol, so i dont think that splash guards would be my choice here, i think that i should find a metal piece and bring the filter up a little higher, thats all, if u have any other ideas except splash guards, hit me up

bring the filter up for sure, but i would still get that bypass valve for the simple fact that if u submerge your filter in a puddle for whatever reason (we all make mistakes) you will be SOL. Its your choice man, but the 40-50 bills is cheaper than a new motor

it never rains here... so i dont need a bypass, my problem is that the filter sits very low which isnt normal, i just want it to sit higher, but idk if it is necessary to put anything around it, i dont know if it will get that dirty?

i understand it doesnt rain man, my whole thing is better safe than sorry, as far the dirt, just raise it and throw a splash guard on (u will want this anyways). you can get a filter cleaning kit too if u are that worried. Just keep an eye on it for a little to make sure. Good Luck

i had mine exactly like that for a while. i have never had a problem with hydrolocking or anything.

as for raising it up, there should be a few holes in the metal right above that behind the headlight. you could always run some zip ties through there and raise it to your desired level

Put the filter up higher or consider doing something along the line of an Ice Box.

despite what everyone is saying, unless you are rallying the car and get in a puddle that is fully covering the filter you will not hydrolock the engine. the engine can't pull enough vacuum to lift that much water into the engine.

but i don't drive in very dirty places, but still, except for some small rocks that get caught between individual fins, the filter doesn't get all that dirty. you do have to clean it more often though. i clean mine every 6 months
