Default Does D16Y8 fit EG?

Yes or No. If Yes, would it need some special engine mount?

The EJ and EH/DC2 driver side engine mounts are different. Depending on the bolt arrangement of the Y8 mount location on the motor, an EH driver side mount may or may not work (there are 2 different mounts used on pre-96 D-series apparently).

It will fit with room to spare. Not sure about mounts though. Check with your local performance shop (just for reference) or call HASPORT. Good luck!

I just always thought the D series from 92-95 and 96-00 were interchangeable...The only differences being the OBD I and II...And this guy comes along and ruins my hopes and dreams...

I know there is a difference between a D15b8 (CX) and a D16z6 (SI) mounts because when I was going to buy a motor I had to check to see if I had black or silver mounts. I had silver and he needed to send me black (or vice versa) I am buying a D16y8 sometime during this week and I need to know EXACTLY what mounts I need in order to get the motor in there. Thanks fellas

from what I know, all D-series rear mounts are the same.....all d series lower mounts are the same, all tranny mounts are the same, however, the upper mount on the driver side are different........

in 92-95 2 types of mounts were used, as stated before black and silver, 92-93 all used the black, in 94-95 only in the ex/si models did the block mount changed needing a diff mount to mount on to the car...

Side mount with a 94-95 ex/si block mount (part of mount on motor) you can run a gsr stock or aftermarket mount to the car itself...

in 96-98 I'm not sure how the block mount changed or stayed the same, but you I know one or the other mounts work the black one or silver on from 92--95...so yes the motor fits just need to test the mount.....

if you can...look at the block mount......compare it to a 92-95 and a 96-98 if its different you might be able to use a gsr mount....

Was it easier to do this then to convert the motor to OBDI? How did you go about doing that?

so, what i think is i can drop a D16Y8 into any EG by using BLACK engine block mount. Sounds correct? What about axles? I should use my original pair or the other pair for D16Y8?

I already had all the wire harness when i bought the motor (complete swap). So all i did was remove the wirings from inside to outside and replaced with the y8 harness.

If you wanted to do OBDI conversion. All you have to do its use the z6 dizzy, run the vtec wire, use a p28, and modify the injectors on the y8 motor so that it fits the obdI injector plugs.

Im not understand what you are talking about 'BLACK engine block mount'..please explain.

As for your axles....they will fit find w/o mods. You can use your old/stock axles- they will work fine.

94-95 ex/si the block mount changed, a gsr one can be used in its place......so yes all d series fit in 88-00 civic, but on some a diff mount is needed but all the motors work.....

what model civic do you have now (stock motor)??

the z6 dizzy does not bolt up, but you can rewire the plugs easy, use your old stock injectors, run the vtec wire, and use a p28.......everything works just fine...

Thx skunk2unerz, what I mean is use the driver side engine mount from 92-93 civic.
One more question about the axles, is there any different between auto tranny axles and manual tranny axles? Thanks.
