Does AC not work unless the fan is plugged in? 96+
Trying to troubleshoot a leaking AC system in a 2000 Civic (si).
After I replaced the compressor, filled it up with r134a, and then noticed it was a damaged fan blade that was causing an awful knocking sound (hitting the shroud or something) and not a bad compressor, I unplugged the fan.
A few days later, I get some more r134a with UV leak detector, but the system won't suck it up, as if the compressor is not engaging.
Does the AC fan have to be plugged in for the compressor to engage?
(I know my old 94 GSR wasn't like that, but maybe the 2000 Civic Si system is different?)

yea the fan has to run or the compressor will cut in and out repeatably. just install a new fan and reconnect and your good as new.
