Daks: If your interested I have a set of Skunk2 coilovers for sale. They came out of a `99 Civic Si. Used for about 4500miles. Email me with an offer if your interested.

hey I heard some bad things about skunk coils which I thought was odd, but what I heard is that they are made pretty specifically for drag launches and make poor springs for driving, and that they break easily but that sounds pretty unlikely to me, what are all your feelings?

i love my skunks! no problem ever. i have used about 6 different sets for 6 different cars that i've owned. one tip is if you are going to hybrid a civic, buy the integra rates.

I love mine. I put like 50, 000 miles on my car with them on there and they feel the same as day 1. I never heard of them breakin as someone stated before.

yeah because if you don't, the civic rates will be too soft which will cause you to bottom out.

The civic rates are 400f/300r, they should be ok for most civics, the teg ones are 500f/400r...kidney jarring

You also have the option of mixing and matching, you might be able to do a 400 all the way around, which would help dial out understeer, which you will no doubt encounter with 500s in the front of a civic.

I had civic rates on a 5th gen coupe raised all the way up and it bottomed out so bad that my tow hook got bent after going over a smooth wave over the freeway. i'm sorry but either my B18C1 was heavier than everyone elses B18C1 or the civic rate skunk2's are just too soft for HYBRIDS.

What shocks did you have? I had integra rates in my 99 si and it was great on the track, but the street was unbearable. This was on koni yellows. I went to kg/mm dual rates from the skunks and it was like a 74 cadillac. 400 lb springs are very stiff, you shouldnt have any bottoming probs IMO.

unless your gonna get aftermarket shocks...don't get 'em...i got them temporarily until i get the HKS hypermax...the ride is rough...if your going for sleeves...get the Ground Control...

In my opinion If you are ever going to be trying to AutoX or Road race in the near future I would Get the GC's that way you can order custom Spring Rates to Fit your needs. If you are just looking to lower the car and Daily drive it and never take it to the Track I say Get the Skunk2's with Teg Rates
I have 600lb springs on the Front 500lb springs on the Rear. It is a 98 Hatch and I love it on the Track but alittle Rough on the Street

why don't you spend the extra 30-40 dollars for Ground Controls.....If 30-40 is way too much out of your budget. Skunk is very good too, but ground control is much better in my opinion. My two friends with Si's are running skunk2s with KYB AGX...and the car handles great, but the ride is bouncy...kinda made me nauseus. I am currently using ground control and Koni Yellows with 275 in the front and 350 in the rear spring rates....rides firm and stable, and handles awesome.

My Two cents,
Khoi

The Skunk2 coilovers work fine. I don't know anyone having any major problems with them. I would recommend aftermarket struts to go with the increased spring rates otherwise you will find the ride bouncy. The ground control units are nice because you can customize the spring rates, but very few people I know take advantage of the option. Most people just go for lowering and a sportier ride. The one thing did notice on ground controls was that the set screws on the adjusting collars would strip out everyonce in a while making adjustments a problem.

with skunk2 there are no screws. and for those that didn't know, skunk2 has custom rates and custom length springs!.
if you want comfort and you don't race on the streets or the track get GC. but if you are about serious performance, get skunk2.
