Default Do we need hubcentric rings?

I'm trying to do some digging and I've come up with both answers... Some people have had em, some people haven't. Both have noticed no difference having them or not having them. I know our cars are lug-centric.

I have a 99 EJ8 and I'm wondering if we need hubcentric rings. I recently acquired 16x7 Circuit 8's and noticed there is a fairly large gap between the center bore of the wheel and hub. I mounted them anyways and drove off and didn't notice any vibration in braking, accelerating, or cruising. Do we really need them?

Honda's aren't lug centric, they're hub centric. Sometimes you can get away without the rings, sometimes you'll have vibration issues.

If you use the correct lugs for the rims (tuner or oem) then you are much less likely to have issues.

Do you NEED hub rings? No, they are not mandatory however they do eliminate possible issues that you may have. Personally I have not used them on any of my cars and I havent had a problem but every rim/car combo is diffrent.

I have always used them on every set of rims I have ever bought for all my Hondas. Not taking any chances.

I thought lug centric was where the rims center on the lugs (hence why they're tapered). Is that not lug centric?

I know aftermarket wheels usually have tapered lug nut seat types. I'm using Muteki lug nuts which are tapered as well. When I was tightening the lugs down, I noticed the rim slightly turning as the lug nuts started to seat in the holes of the wheel.

Which brands are reliable? Or does it not really matter. The wheels didn't come with center caps but I'm gonna try to find some on eBay so salt and crap can't get trapped in there seeing that I'm going to use these wheels for winter.

No. Just make sure the I.D. and O.D. are correct for the hub and wheel.

Gotcha, thanks guys for the quick replies .

I believe I read that the hub diameter is 56.1mm correct?

That is lug centric, but honda's don't center on the lugs. They center on the hub. Some Toyota's are lug centric, lug nuts actually have a shoulder on them and go through the rim. Hard to explain without a picture though.
