Do most Ek's have this problem? UPDATE! Problem FIXED
UPDATE!!
I finally fixed the problem and I didn't even need to cut anything! It was so easy and took about 15 mins. Check it out on page 2!
================================================== ======================
The welded nut for the rear camber kit bolts breaks loose from the firewall. It usually happens when you install an aftermarket camber kit and you put the 14mm bolt in wrong. The welded nut usually breaks from the firewall on the inside. How do you fix this?
As you can see, both of the nut that is welded on to the back is broken off
I was thinking of using a thread repair such as Helicoil but the wall is too thin
I bought this nut from autozone. Its a m10 x 1.25 nut. This is the same one that was welded onto the inside of the wall.
I dont understand why Honda decided to weld a nut on the back when they know its going to break off sometime soon. And make it worst when you cant even gain access to the back of the firewall to fix it.

I always had Ek and always had camber kits. I never had a problem like that befor. I think the welded wash was made to handle a Certin amount of torqe just for safety reasons, if it's to tight I'm pretty sure it will break.

Re: Do most Ek's have this problem?
well I actually had an aftermarket camber kit on it before. The bushings broke so I decided to replace the aftermarket one for the stock ones. After trying to turn it to loosing the bolt, it just broke free. It happened to both of them so I had to use a dremel and cut the bolts free. The other ends fell to the other side so now its just rattling inside my frame somewhere.

I took apart my whole rear interior and found out that even if you cut through the trunk, there will be another separate wall that separates it. I even went under the car and almost removed my whole gas tank. Its right on the left of the gas tank but you will still need to cut through it which is scary because the gas tank is right there.. and there are no release bolts or anything to get to the welded nut.

umm... no. you sir are wrong. there is no way of knowing how much torque a welded but can hold. the weld just became flimsy throughout time. then when OP torqued down the bolt, the weld just broke

Re: Do most Ek's have this problem?
maybe you can install a threaded insert in there?
i've seen some that install like a rivet with a gun, never used one but maybe worth looking in to

are you talking about something like Helicoil? I thought of that already but if you can see by the pictures that the wall is way too thin. I think thats why honda used a welded nut on it instead.

More pictures. As you can see I tried going under and cutting a square from the bottom. Therefore I can put a ratchet inside and have it hold onto the nut and tighten it. But I stopped cutting because I had second thoughts
You can see that from the back side there is no access to the bolt. So for people with similar problems dont go inside your trunk and cut. Its a separate wall.

something like this i'm thinking:http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/images/...%20Product.JPG
seen them at the store, but like i said above its used with a rivet gun like
just can't remember right now
search for threaded insert/thread insert, things like that you may get some ideas

Re: Do most Ek's have this problem?
i had this happen with my front torque mount
i just cut a hole in the frame, put the nuts on a rachet and retightened the bolts down
i left the hole open so i could access it again (spray painted to prevent rust)
thats about the best fix for your scenario
