DO I NEED THIS ON MY B16 HEAD??
do i need these to run my motor?
only reason im asking is because i took my valve cover off today and all of them were off, laying by the valvesprings.
some were bent as you can see but im more worried about the one i cant find.
i only found 15 of these, i took them out since they are damaged and no sence i put them back on cuz there gonna fall off again.
can anyone tell me why they would come off in the first place?
and where the last 1 could have went?
and DO I NEED THESE TO RUN MY CAR?
let me know asap.
thanks guys,
rob

How did those just come out/?? That is crazy....
To answer your question, Yes you do need those.
Those are your valve seals. With out those you leak oil where the valve stems go through the head. Buy your self a helms manual and get to work bro.... or trust a head shop with it...

No, they aren't. I wish people could quit spreading this crap around. They are valve STEM seals. Ok? They seal the valve stem to the guide, they do not seal the valve itself. People get these all mixed up when you use the wrong terms.
He has a mix of intake and exhaust there. Exhaust are black, intakes are white. You can see the color of the rings.
Anyways, yes, you need those. Without them, you will be using oil like mad.

they are called valve seals on honda and acuras part sites.
furthermore, I was under the impression that the exhuast valve stem seals had the springs on the top...</TD></TR></TABLE>
I wasn't trying to be sarcastic. I was trying to clear things up. People ask me questions saying they heard about the "valve seals" on Honda-tech cause this and that. They don't understand that its a STEM seal and simply regulates oil supply to the guide. It doesn't seal the valve itself. I was just trying to help clarify this. Should have known many a person would get butthurt.

Re: (Tuesday Club)
there should be some very small markings on top of each one, right by the spring. I think the exhaust VALVE STEM SEALS have an E on them, forgot what the other ones have. Maybe an I for intake

Someone didn't put that head together correctly. They should go on under the valve springs.
For example:
See the one with the spring off? see the seal? That's where they go on any motor.

I have some never used ITR valve STEM seals. I'll let them go for cheap since I have no use for them
