Default do i need a bigger fuel pump?

i have a 93 si. it has a b18c/b16b motor. RC 440 injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump.

whenever i go to start the car, i have to prime the fuel pump 4 times before it will fire. if i dont prime the pump 4 times, the it wont turn over. but if i do prime it 4 times, it starts up just fine.

how can i make it so i dont need to prime it that many times?

Try replacing the fuel filter. Might be clogged. I HIGHLY doubt you'd need a bigger fuel pump for that motor.

check elsewhere on the fuel system or possible electrical but always four times makes that one a little hard. 255 as far as i know is the biggest one. and considering it can hold up turbo cars just fine id say your ok.

check and see if the fuel pressure is bleeeding off try pinching off the return line from the fuel rail if work then replace the pressure reg

255 wll easily handle 440's, they'll handle 720+

think i might need to adjust my fuel pressure? i has an aftermarket regulator and a pressure gauge. ill check the pressure today and let you all know.

what should it be at? and how do i adjust the pressure?

should b at 42psi under idle, i believe. Turn the nut on top of the aftermarket fuel pressure regulator to adjust the pressure

turn it down till u c 42 at idle, where is ur pressure guage located? Is ur ecu chipped or modded in any way? what kind of ecu r u running? Mahle should of provided u the comp ratio before u bought it, thats kinda one of the things when ur lookin for pistons is the comp ratio. You put pistons in that are designed for ur setup, so lower comp for boost and higher comp for allmotor.....depending. Is it domed? meaning do the pistons look like they come up or are they more flat? still wont tell u exact comp ratio. Check out zealautowerks.com to c what actually changes comp. You can play around with the compression calculator they have.

Edit: oh i c the pistons r already installed.

Try putting stock injectors back in, if ur ecu is stock. A wideband would help u out a lot here if u could get a hold of one. Reading the sprak plugs may point u in the right direction also, cause u probably have way to much fuel. 440 is almost twice the size of factory, do u have a tune on this motor? if so what r u tuning with. Does the car run and feel good? I know this is getting way of the original post, for that, just prime it once and note the pressure, than twice, note, than three and so on. let us know the readings.

ok, let me just do a little background info, i probably should have in the first place lol.

i bout this car 5 weeks ago on the marketplace. it runs fantastic.

mods:
mahle .25 pistons
skunk2 stage 1 cams
3 angle valvejob
ported itr IM
hondata s200
RC 440
Walbro 255

those are what i can think of off of the top of my head. the fuel pressure gauge is right on the fuel rail. (it has a stock fuel rail)

idk if any of that helps. but the car does run really well.

ok so since uv bought it has it always been this way as far as the priming? U dont want to adjust the fuel pressure if ur car is on a tune, and with a s200 and decent a/f's id imagine its tuned. Did u check the pressure after each prime?

well priming the pump and the motor and starter actually turning over are two seperate events. Dont think there is a connection between the two, check starter, grounds, connections, ign switch, saf/neu switch, etc...
