I just recently found out that they even existed. Never paid much attention to them.

it was made because i was bored and had about 20 mins to kill. I am not running it any more. it made driving "interesting" for a few days. i am going to run a slightly shorter version on my coupe, though as it has a edelbrock short shifter in it and it is about 4" too short for my tastes

i made one.. it was ghetto tho.. lol but only cost me 15 bucks.. including a spool for my welder..

went to lowes.. got some threaded rod in the same size of the shifter.. i forgot what it was.. got 4 nuts cut the rod to specified length, put 2 nuts together with the rod through it, welded the 2 nuts together then put the rod halfway through the top nut then welded the rod and bolted it on the stock shifter with the one extra as a lock nut...

the only problem i was having.. under speed shifting i started to bend the rod so i took it out.. i loved it tho

Nice job! Whats cool is that you could like file down the edges and/or paint it and have it any way you want it. Good, cheap mod! Thats what we're all about.

Its totally safe to extend that with a turnbuckle. Shifters don't exactly break anyway.

for 14.99.It's for a jeep but fits our shifters.Its the exact same length as the circuit hero and its quality made and cost less.Im using one and it works fine.

I ordered mine from misumi. It is sold as a standoff, but it looks to be identical to the circuit hero extension. You can get them in stainess, black chrome, nickel plated, or black oxide, and in any length from 30 to 500mm (about an inch to about 20 inches).

but a turnbuckle is cool, too...

This was probably not designed for the looks or the ill ghetto styling, the shift **** is closer to the steering wheel

when driving a car fast or at the limit you need both hands for input on your steering wheel and less distance between the steering wheel and shifter means faster time on the box and less time reaching = safer

the added weight of the ghetto rig will add to positive shift engagement, like with real heavy *****

I like the rig and the concept

to stengthen that up and add a little more wieght couldnt you take a piece of readyrod and screw it all the way down with enough sticking out for your ****, then screw some more readyrod into the bottom with enoughleft over for your extender to screw onto your shifter. cut a little groove acrost the bottom and use a flathead screwdriver to sink it up. all in all not the prettiest thing in the world, but i could see where this would work. being 6'1 im a ways away from my shifter, might be worth something worth doing so i dont got the whole ghetto lean goin on


edit: depends on the turnbuckle some need 2 pieces, some only need one
