Default distributor harness clip B18C swap

In the process of swapping harnesses from a JDM B18C GSR to a 2000 Civic Ex 5spd harness, I noticed a difference in clips whereas I thought they'd all be the same. The distributor clip from the B18 is 1 clip with 10 pins (9 used), but the Civic harness is 2 clips, one with 8 pins and the other with 2 pins (all 10 used).

The top arrow is pointing to the empty pin not used on the B18 clip (hard to see). The colors for the wires are identical, but if I were to put the B18 clip onto the Civic harness, I'd be trying to put 10 wires into 9 available locations. The empty pin on the B18 clip corresponds to the bottom arrow, which is black/yellow.

I'm assuming that both Civic clips have their own grounds, whereas the B18 clip has just one ground, which explains the extra pin. With this, I'd be able to disregard the black wire on the smaller Civic clip. Is this correct?

Also, is there a clean way to extract these pins or do I have to cut and solder?

Just plug it up and see if it runs right.

I'd prefer eliminating as many variables as possible instead of just seeing if it runs when its all in...

Thats wierd it pluged right up with all the wires being the same on my 96 civic. If the wires colors match up just pin that wire into the plug and call it a day. It wouldnt hurt to see what happens without that wire tho. The worst that could happen is the tach wont work or the motor might not start or something.

i dont know homie.

it looks like i cut the b series plug on the harness and wired it to the d series harness so it would plug into the b series alt. plug.

my motor is also obd1 and my harness is obd2, so i dont know for sure. i do know that both of the plugs (which are both obd1 obviously) have only 9 wires.

They both only have 1 plug dumbass. That small one doesn't go to the distributor.

My 97 only has 1 connector going to the distributor. That small one is something else.

Ok, for the benefit of the doubt on your behalf, say the dist only has the 1 plug. It's still 8 to 9 now. The B18 clip has a blue wire similar to the other plug but the Civic clip does not in the 8 plug clip.

PLUS, unless I was totally f'ed up all afternoon, that other two pin clip from the Civic harness doesn't go anywhere else... my D16Y8 is wrapped up so I didn't get a chance to look, but I'll have to check it to be sure.

Again, for benefit of the doubt, any suggestions on what that plug could be if not the dist?

9pin goes into the dist. But i think your going to run into problems with being obd2a into obd2b. But im not sure. Thatll be somethng later.

As for the 10pin i think it hooks to your shock tower but at the same time a flags going over saying that its one harness straight to the ecu. Can you take a bigger picture of the harness so we could see how 10P is ran?

Well, when I said 10 pin, I was referring to both the 8+2 pins, so both harnesses together. I think I know which 10 pin clip you're referring to tho... it's blue for me and goes around the driver's side shock tower. That's a different clip and is on the other end of the harness. I can still take a shot of the harness, but it may be a day or so...

About the OBD2a/b... what thoughts were you having? The rest of it seems to look ok, but I have one extra clip on the harness. It's the one near the injectors and above the fuel rail, related to the evap/purge I believe:

that 2 pin clip does not go to the distributer, there are 2 sensors under the distrbuter, water coolent and fan switch that use the same plug

you should really be using a helms to figure out this wiring or these guys http://technet.ff-squad.com/

On mine, one of the wires off the gsr dizzy (obd2b) isn't used in a 99ex. Given, I don't know if that's correct, but it runs...

the 96-98 civic harness/dizzy has and extra tach output wire (solid blue), the 99-00 doesn't have this

The same tach wire that goes to the ECU.

Gotcha. So since there's a pic of the harness now, anyone with a verdict on that 2 pin clip near the dizzy? It's near the arrow in the image a few posts up.
