Disconnected battery...now radio code?
I know the radio needs a code under certain circumstances as an anti-theft measure, but all I did was disconnect the battery to jump start my dad, and now it's giving me the message that it needs a code. Is this right? I searched HT on how to get the radio out and it seems as though I need to remove the better part of the entire dashboard and I'm honestly a bit discouraged after seeing how many screws I have to take out. I wouldn't mind so much if it was warm out, but it's freezing here in New England. Do I really need to yank the whole radio out just because I disconnected the battery?

I went to the dealer and even though my car is in their system from a previous owner (the car was purchased there used from the owner before me), they told me it is $70 dollars to have them pull the radio and get the number on the back and put in the code. That's outrageous. I'm considering just buying an aftermarket one so I don't have to deal with this and have the place I buy it install it, I'm really not looking forward to taking the entire dashboard out.

if your not going to install the aftermarket radio yourself then it probably would be worth it, then you can get the code for your old radio and sell it, but if you install the aftermarket radio yourself you would have to take out the better half of the dash anyways.

LOL you being charged only for the work to take the radio out of the car. not the code.. the code is free once you provide a radio serial # along with the cars registeration with your name and address on it.
and how can 1 (or was it 2) screws on the bottom of the radio be so hard to pull the radio out???
just remove the lower dash part (below the radio area) and then look up and find the radio screws, loosen, then pull radio out.
