i was just wondering what the difference is between the black valve cover and the silver cover on the d15b vtec motors?? or are the two motor the same?? also will the siver top ones fit right into the 92-95 civic the same as the black top ones do?? please giv eme ur input!!! thanx

i know this is an old post but i had the same question what is the difference between the silver and black valvecover d15bvtecs i just got one from hmotorsonline and its silver but the picture on the site has a black one any one know the difference?

if im wrong, correct me, but i think the silver ones are the old d15b's and the black tops are the newer ones. both still make the same power.

Back in the day I used to sport a black top D15B and it had a 92 stamp on the head. So I pretty sure that the silver cover's are newer one's, but still should bolt right up to a 92-95 chasis.

If its newer than 95 it would be odb 2 and have a knock sensor correct? mine does not. Im converting to OBD-1 in my crx i figured since it came out of 92-95 civics this forum would be better suited to my questions. could it be obd 2 with out a knock sensor?
