Difficulty of install question: SOHC cam swap
I am looking at getting a gude or crower cam for my d16y8 engine, and I was wondering how hard this would be to remove the old cam/install the new one.
What tools would I need, and how long would it take??
Thanks!!!!!!!

well since its a sohc it shouldn't take that long...im not quite sure what tools u need but if you do it yourself just make sure you're doing it right...if not go find a shop...
good luck with the cams...im sure you'll love the difference once the cams are in...

I'm not trying to be rude, but buy a book because it'll have all the instructions for checking the valvetrain. In there will be how to take off the head and arm assembly. Also you might have to adjust you valve tappet depending on which cam you buy and what there specs are. Let me know if you need any more info.

Re: Difficulty of install question: SOHC cam swap
I have a friend who is very mechanically inclined, so it shouldn't be a problem if I have a manual (book, not tranny) and his help, right?
Also, what cams would you recommend??

cam install takes about 2-4hrs at most...on a sohc ...(actually, if you know what you're doing its possible to do it in about 1hr.)
a book is essential for torque specs, and proper clearance check later...also a good guide to follow...
if you can't afford helm, at least get a Chiltons or Haynes....8-10-12-14-17 mm sockets will be required, a valve adj. gauge, spark plugs socket (3/4) and few other tools (flat screw driver)....
