difference between valve clearance and valve adjustment???

difference between valve clearance and valve adjustment???
can anyone plz tell me what is what. people tell me that its the same thing, but i dont think so. valve clearance is the clearance between the camshaft and rockers. but i was wondering how you adjust the valves? can anyone help???

when you do a valve lash ADJUSTMENT you check and correct(if needed) the valve CLEARANCE between the camshaft and rocker. you use a feeler gauge to check the clearance of each one.
