Default difference between CROME and an S200

i just took my car to a friends house and he started my car for me (had some gremlins, that i later found out was a power wire that had accidently been spliced into my anti-theft system). and he told me that my ECU (p28) was chipped for an s200 and i should either get a new ecu or an s200.
my question is (and i searched...) i thought the "chipping process" for a p28 to run any sort of engine managment was the same, be it crome or hondata or an s200. but apperantly i am wrong. is there infact a difference?
my other friend gave me his p28 (that used CROME and ran his 400whp b18) and as far as i know the two ECUs are identical.
so could they be "chipped" for an s200, because i know for a FACT one has used CROME many times.
thanks guys!

A chip can be removed and replaced with another chip or a ecu can be returned to stock state with minimal soldering or usually a jumper. I have no experience with hondata so I don't know how it is installed in the ecu but I'm assuming its just plug and play into the 28pin socket.

********BUMP******************
ok so this might get a few more responses

is the soldering for CROME and an s200 on a p28 ECU the same?

because i know i got the uberkit from MOATES which is the socket kit that you need to chip your p28 (and the ostrich emulator.
