Default Detachable steering wheels.

Hey guys, I'm going to purchase a removeable steering wheel soon, but I have no idea what to look for. What are some good brands to look for? How much should I be expecting to spend? How's the install on these? Are you still able to use your horn?

I'll be putting this wheel on my EJ1.

I did a search but found nothing. Thanks!

You could try http://www.kteller.com

$225 shipped for quick release, hub, and steering wheel.

the new grant one is nice because the hub is flat with teeth that lock into the steering wheel. the hub also has a lock on it so if you take your steering wheel out no one can put another steering wheel on or anything on the shaft to drive the car. you have to have the steering wheel made for the hub or the key to take the hub off

do those fit on any model car? Seems like only GM ****.

Cuz all the other import brands always list specific applications. Also, does anyone know if you could get the MOMO adapter to fit MOMO and Sparco steering wheels on there, and still be able to use that lock?

Hey man, it's either that or a stolen car.

Anyways.. How's the install on this? What about the horn, can you still have it?

Awesome, I'm still a little lost on how the steering wheel bolts up to the hub itself? Does it just snap in and you 'unsnap' it and it comes off?

I think it has little lever type things, so there won't be accidental wheel disconnection.

The NRG unit is what I just ordered, and it's priced very well (paid $83.50 shipped). Rapfix is expensive but from the looks of it.. looks very solid

You can still keep the horn, not sure what car you're installing it into, but with my 98 civic all I had to do was pick up a shoe horn at the dealer and it works like a charm.

And, just a note even if you have a detachable steering wheel theives can still steal the car with or without a flatbed. But it's just one more obstacle for them

about the horn thing, you can buy a wheel with the nos button and hook the horn up to that...

you will need to wire up the horn yourself. there is a write up on the archives. Any detachable hub will work for any steering wheel hub just make sure you get the right one for your car. There are plenty to choose from.

Can someone recommend a good, reputable website to buy from? I want a good looking steering wheel. Are all wheels the same for every hub?

for the hubs, just make sure they are MOMO, Sparco, Nardi compatible, and get a matching wheel. Try checking classifieds for a good looking used wheel. Or I think the site is http://www.ltbmotorsports.com

I picked up my steering wheel from http://www.overboost.com. There customer service wasn't so great, but when I went to sparco's website they and overboost had a blowout sale for all types of stuff. I ended up getting a sparco lap5 steering wheel for $80 shipped brand new. They periodically have sales with a lot of sparco stuff.

I ended up buying a momo hub from a guy on ebay. His price was better than http://www.shopmomo.com and he offered free shipping. I believe it's the same company integraXTC recommended "ebay seller ID ltbmotorsports)

Unfortunately, when you use a sparco wheel and a momo hub the momo horn ring will not work. You will either have to figure a way around like I did or buy a sparco horn ring.
