Exactly, thats heavy.

when my hach barely weighs over 2100lbs with B motor and complete turbo setup. (car has full interior too) a del sol is pretty damn heavy.

I've seen one set of genuine Honda leather Sol seats on here in the whole time I've been here. That should tell you something.

depends on the model. the b16 sols are the heaviest. my 93 's' with H swap is 2450 with my 185 lbs *** in it. That's 2265 for the car, 1/4 tank of gas, full interior (nothing removed, not even spare tire), and a bunch of tools and random **** in the rear compartments/behind seats. It is a rough ride, but not noticably different than my friend's eg with similar suspension.

edit* forgot to mention that i lost ac, and a lot of other unnecessary crap in the swap.

Nope.

EDIT: I should say that they're not genuine Honda leather Del Sol seats.

My 94 del sol si was only 2450lbs. w/ h22 and full interior and a system in it. I don't think that is really that heavy. Also, my car was very low, and I had no problems with its driveability or handling.

I dont think there much heavier then any other civic, you have to remember there smaller too which helps keep the weight down.

Secondly I dropped my car 2" when I got it from stock and it hardly looks lowered it looks like it was sapossed to come that way. Also I dont find them being lower harder to drive in the least. I drive mine year round lowered and have yet to get it stuck in the snow ect. it sits about 3" off the ground I want to say, from fram to ground (Not lowest point btw but the side of the body)

I went to this page. If you have a better or more accurate one please share with me and Ill edit the top. I want to make this the most accurate I can and have as much info in the first post (mine) as I can so people dont have to read the entire thread because most people here are to lazy and just wont do it when they can make a anther post asking because they cant take the time to read.

Fog lights came on the 93-95 models only, 96-97 didn't have them

They are not fog lights, they are aux lights. Aux and fogs are two totally different things.

The weight debate has been around forever. If I remember correctly, the Sol is lighter than a teg. Plus, you can always lighten the car if you want to.

a couple of things that were forgotten...

NOTES

1) it's a targa, obviously it's going to be heavier.

2) because it's a targa (open top) it's a car to have fun in, not race.

3) EDM models always had the aux. lights

PROS

1) excellent driving position - everything is within hands reach and close to the steering wheel.

2) extra compartments behind the seats.

3) stereo compartment - good to hide your cdplayer from thieves

CONS

1) below par chassis rigidty - but then again anyone who drives a civic is used to it

well im lookin for VTEC first.. all put my feet through the damn floor boards to stop if i can find a cheep VTEC, brakes are last priority..... VTEC!!!!!!!!! w00t w00t!!</TD></TR></TABLE>

brakes definately should NOT be last priority, unless you want to wreck your new investment. if you do a swap you have more power and weight, more inertia... u need better brakes to compensate for all of that. i hope you change your mind on that decision.

tell these things to david "darksol" http://www.drjanestewart.com/darksol/showcase.html

does take quite a bit to stiffen up the chassis... i loved my Sol though, and the girls love it too

tell david what exactelly? Don't get me wrong you can race a del Sol, but it's not the ideal race car. Once you go against a french hatch (Peugeot, Renault, Citroen) you discover how far behind Honda is with handling.

Brakes and suspension should be the 1st thing to be upgraded before doing any power upgrades.
