Unfortunatly I don't have the money or the skill to do an engine swap so i was thinking about a supercharger because it is less money and i would be able to install it what do you think.

Either engine swap it or push it off a cliff, other than that your wasting your time and money. A engine swap would be a lot cheaper then a s/c.

trust me, if you can install a supercharger, you can install a motor. Not very hard, just takes time. Save your money for a motor, you wont regret it

dude, i put the jrsc on my non-vtec and it hauled ***, these guys sayin that its worthless dont know ****, tune the blower with an aftermarket ecu and youll love it, you'll get great mileage and its not so hard on the engine, you can pick up used blowers off ebay and just maintain it, these guys on here saying an engine swap is better arent telling you that your picking up an engine thats worthless cuz of all the miles and abuse, and that you might have to rebuild it, spend 1200-1500 on a used blower, you wont regret it.

No, these guys say this because you get more power out of it. If he swapped to B16 and saved his money and then charged it. You're talking a lot more power than a 1.6 non vtec. It's just more speed and power possibilites. But if you just want a "quick" little car to go around town then yea, charge it. Best bang for the buck.

you know what kid... you just need ke'nex and friends....its all about who and what you know.... dont waste your funds on a supercharger.... its not easy to install.... the only mission on a good engine swap is the wireing.... buying the engine and choosing the engine is alot harder as well... it took me a year to decide what engine i should get.... i started out just buying the transmission.... you need a hydrualic transmission transmission, and those are not cheap or easy to get... from there i was running a non vtech b20z... and then i got the vtech heads and polished them out... im looking for another hydrualic tranny for my second del slo and its the same bs from shop to shop... but in the end it all works out... what you can do wile you save up your money is chip the computer... thats not very expensive... run around like that untill your engine gives out.... that way you have a fighting change on that d16.......

You don't need a year to look for an engine.

Most places have at least B16s in stock. Pick one up for $2500 and if you can install a JRSC, you can install an engine.

ahahahaah, thats the funniest thing, stock b16's make 130whp, i made 165whp with my non-vtec sohc with jrsc, guys with much lighter hb's with b16's couldnt keep up with me, on the race track, or from light to light. the jrsc when tuned right would kick any non-built NA b16, been there done that, it costs more to buy a b16 and rebuild it then it does to tune the jrsc and buying an aftermarket ecu. my NA ls/vtec only made 20whp more than my single cam with jrsc, and the jrsc made way more torque down below, and the reason why the ls/vtec made more hp is cuz i revved the thing to 8500rpm, meanwhile the single cam hit its peak at 7000!

not being rude...just honest. I own a del sol with a sohc non-vtec and also have a si with a B18C5, so I think I have the comparisons available to give him advice on his car.
Back to the original topic, look at it like this...if you do the swap you can always later down the road s/c the swaped engine but if you s/c the d series then you are left with just that.

I have a 97 Del Sol S : non vtec. The only thing worth doing to that car is gettin

an exhaust, lowering it, and gettin little minor things, while your saving up for your

b16, or b18. That motor has no potential Take it from me, Ive

been driving it for almost a year with that d16y7 Just save your $$$

for a new motor.

How bout instead of a JRSC, invest in an Evolution class or other driving school. That will knock more time off than a JRSC.

He's just proving the point that you can get more power from a DOHC or even an SOHC VTEC. It's all about preference. Don't blow up on people from giving their opinion they are trying to help you. As I said early, do you want a quick around the town car? Get a charger. But if you want to get some nice speed for dragging or even autoX then swap it.

I have minor things done to mine, because smart people know that pouring $$

into that motor is a waste of time. There's no way to get alot of power out of that

motor. The time u boost, you spent 3g's, and it still isnt as fast as a b16 with some

bolt ons. Do a search.

Noobs suck.
