Dealers jack the price....
How much do you think the dealer jack up the price on a used car?
Sold my EH, so I'm in need of a new, but used, ride.
Two Honda dealers...
Dealer 1 (Burien Honda)
98 Civic EX Sedan AT w/ 113k $8450 (8950 kbb)
96 Civic EX Coupe MT w/ 70k $7450 (8015 kbb)
Dealer 2 (Bellevue Honda)
95 Civic EX Coupe MT w/ 117k $7588 (6330 kbb)
95 Civic EX Coupe MT w/ 88k $7995 (6930 kbb)
I'd like to stay 5th Gen, but 6th is ok I guess. I know I can find these from "private party" for less, but I think I want to go with a dealer this time.
What do you think of a price drop on any? I've gotta get a car within a week. Kinda wanna stay EX if anything too, incase I can't sell my turbo kit.

dealers with used car lots next to them, usually profit more by selling used cars then new cars. dealers give you **** for trade-ins, fix it up, turn back around and raise the prices. the price they put on used cars are very negotiable. you can talk the price way lower then what they askin for on used cars.
btw: those prices are pretty high .

blaa there is no way id pay that much for those cars, a buddy of mine just got a 99 ex coupe for 10500. i can't belive there asking that much

sticker price doesnt equal selling price
if you like a car go in and haggle the price down.
best thing to do is decide what you want ot paya and if you cant get them to gete close to that price keep looking...

used car dealers are a joke! the dealership will not back up a used car any more then a private party, maybe even less. All you are doing is buying a car that someone sold to them, they mark it up, then YOU pay TO MUCH! Don't do it!

Don't buy from the dealer unless its a brand new car. Sit on your hands, go through the Auto Trader, the newspaper, even the Vehicles for Sale section here. You can find a whole lot better deal than those.

Find a private party at least they will have some history on the car and you can ask questions, dealers don't know squat half the cars come from auctions and god knows where the cars come from...
Stick with a private party.

Yeah. Go to a dealer...ask for blue book or less...and then if they dont give it to you you walk out and go somewhere else. End of story.

Re: (JMU1337)
i used to work at a car dealer. They usually jack uyp the price of the car by about 2000 3000, depending ong what car it is. And also so that when you go in there to negotiate they have more give on the reducing of the price. And the jacked up price is of what they paid for. I know that down in Fl 95 civic ex coupes at auction go for around 3500-4500 depending on condition and mileage. So you do the math and there you go.

Thanks for the replys guys. I'm thinking of going back to Burien Honda and offering $5000 for the 96 Coupe. I don't care if they laugh at me, I just don't want to spend more than that if I don't have to.
BTW: I'm also interested in a 92/95 Manual w/ LS swap. Washington state area.

Re: Dealers jack the price.... (D16Z6racing)
There are 3 KBB values: Trade-In Value, Private Party Value, and Retail Value. The dealer usually takes the trade-in for the Trade-In Value and tries to sell them at near the Retail Value. When bargining with a dealer, always start from the Trade-In Value and move up from there instead of starting from the Retail Value and trying to move the price down.
