Dead short...kinda confusing...
Ok so the other day my battery started leaking. I went and bought a new battery and put in the car and it cranked and ran fine that night...no issues at all. The next morning it was dead completely. I had a friend come over that night after work with his volt meter and he assured me that the starter was bad. So I replaced the starter and now the car is confusing me. The car is fine for about 30-45 minutes...after that it has no battery what so ever. But if I jump the car off...as soon as I get the cables on both cars I can run back to the car and it cranks up fine. I got a new ignition switch to try now but other than that I'm confused as to what it could be. 1998 Honda Civic EX 5spd. Fresh D16Y8 swap...maybe 500 miles.

well ya got one damn good alternator if ya can just go crank it right after you put the cables on... check all your lights and any electrical for a draw on the battery... it's one hell of a draw...
at night time or with some kind of darkness around the battery turn the car off and take the key out... close the door,
disconnect the negative cable and then touch it to the top of the battery terminal and see if it sparks... if so you have a draw... depending on how big the spark is you'll know how much of a draw is on it... and i suspect it will be pretty big

go take it to your local shop and pay them for an electrical check. i think its so funny when people have some kind of electrical problem and they spend all this money throwing parts at it when you could just pay a mechanic a little money and he will tell you what you need to replace. soooo much easier and cheaper.
