dc header= loud valves
ive posted about this problem before, after puttin my jdm dc header on my c5 motor my valves became very noisy, so i had them adjusted, still there. Now i heard that the the dc header is not a sound proof as the OEM header, so valve and engine noise are heard alot more. anyway i wen to 10w30 weight oil insted of 5w30 but that didnt really help much. any suggestions, anyone else have the problem.

Re: (SOHC_MShue)
anyone know if this is a common problem for aftermarket headers... i have 63402's and after adjustments, the valves are already pretty loud. just recieved my headers and i hope they don't get any louder.

I had a fairly quiet motor until I put my header on and then , yeah I thought something was really wrong the first time I pulled into the drive thru at the bank. I guess its just the thin header.

Re: dc header= loud valves (SleepnCiViC)
I have SOHC VTEC with DC 4-2-1 one piece headers and my valves are quiet. I've only owned the car since Christmas. When I got it, it had 10W-30 which I changed to 5W-30. No difference. Course it's feezing cold outside.

i changed the headers on both my hondas, and i noticed an increase in valvetrain noise/exhaust noise on both cars. on my accord, i had a GReddy SS 4->2->1. My civic has a b16a with a DC JDM CC. Im pretty sure the increase in noise is normal.

Re: (SleepnCiViC)
Is the header new? If not, make sure there's no cracks in it.
I had a header on my 99 Sentra (SR20DE-powered) and it cracked. You could hear the valves like crazy through the cracks. Put a new header on and that went away. Just a thought.

Re: (SleepnCiViC)
Ive encountered this before. And adjusted the valves checked lma's ect. And have come down to this conclusion.
The thin walls of after market headers must have less sound deadening properties as the thick oem cast iron exhaust manifolds. So we are pretty much just hearing something that has always been there just not as noticable before because it was muffled by cast iron.
Thats what I think atleast.
