Default damint couldnt edit it.. serious question.. please dont lock

okay.. this isnt tech but i need an opinoin on this okay...

heres the deal.. this guy was doing a b16 swap in his 93 civic hatch.. the b16 is obd0 they used everything obd0 and used obd1 injectors and dizzy.. now the deal is i sold him a perfectly fine p28 to use ( it was in my car for 6 months ) and they put it in thier car with the wiring they did to make it run ( whatever they did i dont know ) and the car caught on fire and its totaled now...

now the deal is that.. they said the ecu started sparking and throwing sparks out of the case and caught the carpet on fire...

now my question is.. has anybody ever heard of an ecu doing that???..

Sounds like they ghetto rigged the harness a little to much. They have no reason to be pissed at you. If the ecu is still in the case you might be able to open it and see if there was any burnt parts before flame to have yourself some proof.

if you know it wasnt your fault, why would you be worried about your hatch gettin stolen. theyre just lookin for someone to blame right? now if the p28 had somethin wrong with it and you knew about it, then i might be worried.

you sure he was using obd1 injectors? using obd0 injectors with an obd1 ecu could potentially cause the ecu to spark

im pretty shure he was using obd1 injectors.. they told me they used the ones from the cx motor.. im not worried.. just they want me to fix it and im not going to that ecu was fine in my car for 6 fukin months and it was fine in my car the night i put it in to make shure it works on the way there...

i just dont know i have never ever heard of an ecu sparking and starting a car on fire.. i always thought thats why there is an ecu fuse

edited...

also they were using the cx harness.. but it somehow had the vtec pressure switch plug and vtec plug in it soo idk???

cause they want to blame him and get back at him.. i would be extra sure to watch my stuff too

check the engine bay and see if the ecu fuse blew. it would cut anything off from letting the ecu fuse spark.

and even if the ecu was sparking. it would really need to catch on fire fast to burn down the car. seams like they fucked up some wireing and didnt test anything out and jsut left the car there.

ur not at fault... .expletive em

The wires going to the ECU don't have enough amperes or volts to create a spark that could fly. Now the battery cable to the starter motor...maybe, cause that ive seen, but to the ecu, the wire would melt before it "shot" sparks.

Something would have to ground internally for the ECU to create a spark. And by doing so, the 15 amp fuse would pop immediately, thus, they are feeding you a big old fat line of bullshit.

They probably layed a metallic cold air intake over the battery or something which caused the fire. Nothing short of constant battery power could cause this.

Tell them to go expletive themselves, and take you to court of they think your ECU did this. If you "Fix" this problem then you are an idiot.

You dont seem like an idiot.

I know you really don't want to be around these people but look at the fire marks, you can tell where a fire started by the color of the burn.
Just like firefighters....
Good Luck.

talk to your insurance company and ask about an atuomobile arson investigator, my dad's ford truck just burned down and the insurance company wouldn't do anything until the arsonist checked the truck himself. they really know what they are talking about and can tell exactly where the fire started

good luck with whatever happens, there is no way the ecu was a problem doing this to someone's car and I dont think that a cx harness has a vtec setup. I dont know much about ecu's and harnesses but that sounds fishy.

personally, if someone did a wiring job on his own then id blame that. Don't get suckered into paying for it without hard proof. Good luck to ya.
