Default d16z6 no start

ok so i just put in a z6 motor in my car.

1st off it didnt want to start it just kept on cranking, so i borrowed my buddys dizzy then it started right up. i let it run for like 10 mins or so then it just died out in a instant. tried starting it back up and it didnt even want to start up again. after i checked to see if i was getting spark, and nothing at all. it was running fine when the motor was in my buddys car, then one day it acted up and didnt want to start. so he pulled the motor out and i put it in my car and it still doing the same thing. any ideas?

-i checked for voltage and the black/yellow wire at the dizzy, its reading battery voltage,
-also did compression test and numbers were all good

i need help!!! lol

In addition to lacking spark at the plugs, does the fuel pump also fail to prime? When you turn the key from off to ON(II), do you hear the humming noise of the fuel pump priming for 2 seconds?

Have you checked whether the timing belt snapped or stripped? Remove the oil fill cap and peer inside with a flashlight while a buddy cranks the engine. Do the rocker arms move?

timing belt is still good, the motor was running, i drove it up and down the street with no problems at all, then when i parked it i let it idle for a little bit then it just died, started right back up once, then died again then wouldnt start back up at all

This does not prove the timing belt is fine. It could have skipped a tooth first and then snapped later. It's easy to check the timing belt as I mentioned.

ok well i lined the cam gear up with the timing mark on the cover, then checked the crank pulley timing mark, and it looks to be off just a little bit, could this be causing it not to spark?

How far off is the crank pulley from TDC1? Did you turn the crank pulley counterclockwise only to position the cam at TDC1?

You would only lack spark if turning the crank pulley does not turn the cam pulley. If the crank turns the cam, then test the coil and igniter unit inside the distributor.

Your mechanical timing may be off by a tooth, but that's not preventing spark if turning the crank pulley turns the cam. So you may have more than one problem.

Even though the coil is new, test it and the igniter unit.

Do you lack spark at all four spark plugs?

Test the coil and igniter unit and only replace if they test bad.

Some auto parts stores will test the igniter unit for you. Call around.

Here's how to test the coil using a multimeter:
