D16z6 into an EK 96-00 chassis. Little detail questions.
I've heard people talk about this, but no one ever answered anything. and searching doesnt help too much.
Anyways I'm swapping a z6 into my 97 coupe. And i'm wondering if the mounts will fit in perfectly? I'm gonna buy some new mounts for it and i'm wondering which ones i buy, they shoould be the same, no? DO i buy mounts for a ek chassis or for an Eg chassis?
another thing, I'm thinkin of reusing my alternator from my y7, will there be a problem? And a y7 Tranny will bolt right up to the z6 wont it.
Thanks for answering guys!
Or if you can just point me to a post that has this swap, with all the needed parts and steps, that'd be appreciated.
Keep on conversing and mb i can put together a nice how-to when this is all done, THANKS

use ek mounts, use the z6 dis housing, and the y7 dis electronics, use the y7 oil pump,if you want to pass emish , but you will have to plug the hole on the pump for the dipstic the z6 dip is on the block

well cause your car is 96+ you have to run obd2 when you get it emish tested, but if they find out your not running a engine model your cars chassis same year or higher, won't pass tech.

yea i'm not too worried about emmisions right now i just want it to come in smoothly that's all. Are there any other problems that i might face? i'm just gonna use my stock engine harness, i know i have to change the plugs for the IAC and the DIzzy, anything else?

yea 2 wire iacv
you can just repin the distributor or wire harness
if your staying obd2 you may get cel for knock, and the crank sensor
you need to use the 96--00 mounts including the block mount on timing belt side
use the obd2 injectors and alternator
and hydro sohc tranny will work
wire vtec obviously. unless you have a EX harness

ill get you picks tommorrow if you want i have a d16a in my 00ex , passed emish twice now and have no cel . you can fool the knock sensor by giving it a ground, and the z6 dipstic is below the exauhst manifold instead of on the oil pump.

[IMG][/IMG] where the dipstik was, i sealed the hole with some jb weld, its lasted over 100k nowthis is where it is on a z6 , no need for two dipsticks. the only reason for using the y7, or y8 oil pump is for the crank angle sensor, you dont need it unless you want to pass emish
